Just that question really. I was and I finally left following the appointment of Lily Madigan as Women's Officer. I'd really like to know the number of other people who have done the same.

Have you left, or are considering leaving due to similar concerns?

OP posts:
Fekko · 23/01/2018 19:25

Did you let them know why you left?

Halebeke425 · 23/01/2018 19:26

Considering leaving but not sure what to do really. Feeling politically homeless :(

SwerfyTerfy · 23/01/2018 19:26

Yes.
I'm also politically homeless now.

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 23/01/2018 19:27

Fekko yes I did let them know my reasons for leaving but have had no response.

catgirl1976 · 23/01/2018 19:28

Yes I left and cancelled my membership over this and a little bit over Brexit

ATeardropExplodes · 23/01/2018 19:28

I have stopped the direct debit just waiting to see if anyone bothers to ask me why...doubt they will of course.

EamonnWright · 23/01/2018 19:31

Let them know why you are leaving.

LangCleg · 23/01/2018 20:22

I was a member since forever. Left over Iraq. Rejoined. Now considering flouncing off for a second time.

UpstartCrow · 23/01/2018 20:25

I left and said why, and told my local MP. He doesn't care. He think's I'm a bigot.
I'm still a Socialist, its just that the Nu Labour party isn't.

EamonnWright · 23/01/2018 20:30

He think's I'm a bigot

I've often tried to reflect about this. If everybody is fine about this then why am I not? I'm not a bigot and couldn't give a shit if a boy wants to wear 'women's' clothes. Why would I, it's absolutely none of my business. Like someone's sexual orientation. Yet we're being called bigots. It's a word that's just thrown about to silence people.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 23/01/2018 20:33

DH and I left when Corbyn took charge.

Lots left when they failed and are still failing to deal with anti semitism.

Everyone has their breaking point.

Even if you tell them why you are leaving, don't expect a response. Still waiting here.

mimivanne · 23/01/2018 20:33

I joined when Jeremy became leader and left over the AWS issues.I called the membership line and was asked to send an email and please to give the reasons why.
I got in touch with my MP (Labour) about the LP male womens officer, self defined women and the AWS ,explaining that males on all womens shortlist was a step too far for me and I had resigned. No response from LP but I did get a regrets email from my MP.

MiMi78 · 23/01/2018 20:36

Piglet
I only joined when Corbyn was made leader Grin
I thought he was the answer to our prayers. What a dimwit I was.
Started being a bit pissed off when they were so crap over Brexit, then incandescent with rage over this Self Id nonsense.
What made you leave when he was leader? Am just nosey.

Lovelyusername · 23/01/2018 20:41

I did, I emailed and wrote but no reply.

I made an complaint regarding Lily’s appointment in particular.

Now I’d like to join the Green Party but they are ‘affirming that people can be whoever they want’. So no better

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 23/01/2018 20:41

What made you leave when he was leader? Am just nosey.

His views on many things. I didnt do it straight away, DH did. We were aware of him of old though. His failure to deal with anti semitism was the final straw.

Lovelyusername · 23/01/2018 20:43

To be fair, Caroline Lucas does try to put a good case forward and says the GRA won’t change things.

But in the words of Joni Mitchell - ‘I don’t believe her’

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 23/01/2018 20:44

The Labour Party feels like a 6th form debating club now. Not a party for a grown up. So depressing.

Battleax · 23/01/2018 20:45

Thinking about it. Trying to restrain myself from making angry decisions, really.

howonearthdidigethere · 23/01/2018 20:47

Yes and I copied the entire Labour Party in pretty much. No one replied and I’m still on their mailing list Hmm

Battleax · 23/01/2018 20:48

DH and I left when Corbyn took charge.

Lots left when they failed and are still failing to deal with anti semitism.

I was hoping his tenure would be short and that various things would improve once he'd gone, but it's so many things now and so intractable.

BarrackerBarmer · 23/01/2018 20:49

I'm not a member but if I was I would have left! I'm a labour voter though.

If one party, just one, stood up and declared their stance that the female sex were a distinct category that deserved the right to be recognised as such, they would get my vote regardless of their stance on any other issue.

The only way women can make the magnitude of their dissent felt is through a democratic and secret vote.

I would bet my house that a large portion of women who claim to support this hateful ideology would privately vote against it.

Political parties are currently behaving like tinpot dictators stationing their heavies st the polling stations to ensure the vote goes their way. No one with any self preservation instinct would challenge this publicly given the backlash. But our vote is still democratic and anonymous. And powerful.

All I want is one single issue party to give women the opportunity to demonstrate their opposition and have the strength of their votes recognised.

Perhaps once women's rights are secured we can get back to fighting for other stuff, instead of simply fighting for our own legal recognition.

Glitterypinksoap · 23/01/2018 20:51

Also politically homeless.

BarrackerBarmer · 23/01/2018 20:57

I wish someone with technical skills could devise an incredibly simple website. One where you literally just click a button to register your support for women being recognised by sex not gender.
No identifying data collected.
Just a tally of numbers.
"People who want recognition of sex not gender."
No comments section.

I've no idea how you'd ensure people couldn't be double counted or identified. Or doxxed. But just like we've watched the crowd funder rise, I think people want their opinions to be noted without fear of harassment.

DjunaBarnes · 23/01/2018 21:09

I feel like the ever since the referendum it's been a series of last straws, but I think blind support of the GRA and the AWS might really be the final one. It's the sheer refusal to allow women a voice on something that effects them and the empowerment of these ex-NUS child-stalinists like the ones keeping that doxxing list that really enrages me. I'm waiting to see what happens with Jennifer James' legal challenge, but I think it's likely I'll quit.

For anyone contemplating the greens - they are much worse on this and with even more nutters.

RogueBiscuit · 23/01/2018 21:14

I left and said why. So did my husband.
