Mumsnet twitterati revisited

A while ago (can’t remember when, probably about a year) there was a push to encourage gender-critical mn-ers to join twitter and boost support for gender critical voices.

I just wondered how everyone’s getting on? I had a break of a few months for a house move, but am now back and encouraged to see that there seems to be a far bigger radfem community than when I first joined. I now have 275 followers, including some people I really respect which I’m quite proud of considering that I’m relatively new to the scene and don’t have anything overly insightful to contribute.

Has anyone else noticed this? There are a good few people over there I strongly suspect of having originated here, but couldn’t tie handles to user-names (obviously for good reason!).

Can I warn people to be really really careful - I'm a serial NC here because ... I've been what I think is called "doxxed" for my use of Twitter under my RL name (formal complaint to my employer - I'm still under investigation.

I am now pruning who I follow on that Twitter handle - so my apologies to lots of women here in MN whom I've unfollowed (and thank you for your direct or indirect help in dealing with the complaint etc - the help via a couple of anonymous groups & mutual friends has been so so helpful). I'm following instead from a Twitter account which doesn't have my full RL name.

I am censored and silenced for asking questions on Twitter about legislation proposed in a democracy. It's utterly utterly appalling.

I'm incognito and a name changer.

I may need to create a new email address though.

Great to see so many ‘snetters on Twitter. I haven’t identified many for sure (certainly couldn’t pin to a username), but I often see particular phrases, acronyms used that come from over here.

Ditto everyone who’s advising caution. I did my anon account as follows:

  • set up anonymous email account (gmail is good for this)
  • set up twitter account using this email, make sure you don’t include your phone number when it requests. On Twitter you need both a ‘handle’ and a ‘name’. Clearly both need to be anon.
  • if you link it to a MN username like I did, make sure you NC back to another username before posting anything other than GC stuff.

I've updated my Twitter name, I'm now @MmmTea_

I know, pretty boring hey but I've started getting more involved and enjoying getting new perspectives and ideas.

I'll look out for the names I know here and follow.
