I've recently become addicted to a Gofundme campaign. Every time I press refresh the total raised has jumped up and I don't seem to be able to stop.

I'm trying to stay within Mumsnet rules here, so obviously I can't link or promote it.

Does anyone else have this enjoyable problem?

Honestly, a very good troll or a very person.
Even if it was a troll, gaslighting women like this is just ShockShock I really don't even know what to say.

KizzyBear · 19/01/2018 10:01

Sick *

EamonnWright · 19/01/2018 10:02

I don't know one single person that really gives a shit about Trans never mind hate them. Where did this most hated group ever come from.

Terrylene · 19/01/2018 10:07

There are some very strange and unpleasant people around Confused Hmm

Terrylene · 19/01/2018 10:13

It seems from the recent update that people who posted their actual names on the list are being harassed, like the QC, but goodness knows what goes on when it is not in public.

gunsandbanjos · 19/01/2018 10:15

That’s some messed up shit!!

The logic actually defies belief.

KizzyBear · 19/01/2018 10:20

@Terrylene I did post my name originally but I knew it wouldn't be long until people start getting harassed so I changed it to anon

GuardianLions · 19/01/2018 10:40

Kizzy that is very MRA that tumblr post. They deliberately do that sort of thing to waste everyone's time and make people too hot-headed to debate meaningfully. It is an amusing pastime for them I suppose.

MissMoneyPlant · 19/01/2018 11:01

32bakedbeans NHS psychiatric services are allowing any men who fall ‘under the trans umbrella’ (cross dressers, AGPs etc) onto female psychiatric wards, and then gaslighting those women who complain by telling them the man in a dress is a woman. Telling psychotic patients that a man is a bloody woman.

Sorry to be doom and gloom but this kind of gaslighting happens to quite a lot of psych patients, particularly women. Psychiatric diagnoses aren't precise, and from what I've seen even the protocols in place for diagnosis are not always followed. So much is subjective - male psychiatrist thinks female patient isn't respecting enough of his godlike status? - she's "argumentative", etc. And the massive sweeping under the carpet of life experiences, as if it's all caused by your neurons randomly fucking up one day.

Did you notice, in that news report - the woman had psychotic delusions that MRAs were trying to kill her. It doesn't take a huge leap to realise that growing up and living under the patriarchy, then encountering MRAs, means her fears are something of a distortion of reality rather than entirely completely bonkers. I bet that's not recognised by the team treating her though.

I often think the mental health system and individuals caught within in are a good place to look for sort of... concentrated versions of what's going on in the wider world.

I hope that makes sense; it's quite difficult to put what I mean into words.

Also find it intriguing that believing, despite objective material reality, that you are the opposite sex, is accepted as truth by so many people, yet the patient's viewpoint in other areas of mental health is dismissed (even when they are probably right!) And of course the brocialists and handmaidens care so much about trans people apparently because of suicide rates and mental health reasons, yet don't exactly support people with mental health issues otherwise. The whole area around trans/mental health/comparisons is really odd. In a way, the striking endorsement of the trans viewpoint is a massive red flag.

Umm, has everyone seen Jack Monroe’s twitter today? She’s kicking off over a five pound donation in her name...

gunsandbanjos · 19/01/2018 11:24

Because she’s the only possible jack monroe in the world...

Datun · 19/01/2018 11:27

As far as I know you can call yourself what you like, as long as the intention isn't to defraud.

No-one is defrauding anyone.

Damn right and thank you for writing this MissMoneyPlant. I find it really hard when people's experience of 'psychosis' is simply waved away as a 'chemical imbalance' as well. I believe most people in the psychiatric system are traumatised in some way or are reacting in an understandable (albeit coded and difficult to understand) way to their environments.

So many women are labelled as having 'borderline personality disorder' who are actually traumatised. It was the feminist psychiatrist Judith Herman who suggested changing this term to Complex PTSD. Now we seem to have both diagnoses!

Psychiatry was developed by men and is still reigned over mostly by men. It is strange how I had to fight for years to go to a specialist trauma clinic, had my history of severe and sustained abuse in early childhood written off and my internal reality dismissed yet they are now allowing men to claim they are women and 'yep, no problem, here's some extra rights for you to boot.'

I think there needs to be a revolution in mental health. To me psychiatry is nothing but a pseudoscience and more akin to religion that was set up for the benefit of men. Thanks for your post.

Hopefully these are clicky links. The "evidence" and the targets that are wanted to be ousted from the labour party.

facelessvongorgeous · 19/01/2018 12:13

There's nothing actually in the folders BTW. Maybe because the evidence is sane, rational discussion?

Redonionricedpotato · 19/01/2018 12:17

Jack is showing her true colours isn't she - threatening to sue a woman who probably doesn't have much money in the first place.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 19/01/2018 12:23

Ugh, Jack Monroe couldn't stop making it all about her, or him or whatever she/he is today (does anyone know?)

MorrisZapp · 19/01/2018 12:29

Jack is clearly high on her recent (very well fought and deserved) court win.

But her threats today look like willy waving. Feminist crowd funders are not Katie Hopkins.

Sites like crowdfunder must have terms and conditions. Jack will not be the first person whose name has been used for comic, political or sinister effect on such sites. I dare say the legal buck stops with the site and not with individual donaters.

Having said all that I was a teeny bit uncomfortable with the piss take naming but it's too late now.

BarrackerBarmer · 19/01/2018 12:29

Number of donors has dropped to 989
GoFundme says donations are irreversible.
What is happening here?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/01/2018 12:30

Donations bouncing?

NannyOggsKnickers · 19/01/2018 12:34

That Tumblr Post is unbelievable. Is someone showing this evidence to Labour Party Chiefs? There needs to be more light shone on this.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 19/01/2018 12:39

I paid earlier. More than I originally thought I would but still fairly modest. It did feel good. Hope they are successful with their legal case.

MissMoneyPlant · 19/01/2018 12:45

Chirpy I'm sorry to hear of your awful experiences, and glad you have been able to hold onto the truth and have your trauma recognised in the end.

I believe most people in the psychiatric system are traumatised in some way or are reacting in an understandable (albeit coded and difficult to understand) way to their environments.

My personal, albeit rather unrefined view, is that psychosis is caused by (something along the lines of) the person's capacity to comprehend the world being overwhelmed by contradictory information, and neurosis caused by trauma. And they overlap and interract.

As I type that, I now understand why BPD was thought to be on the border of psychosis and neurosis...
Apologies for derail.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 19/01/2018 12:46

It shows 985 for me?
