We are also concerned about the MASSIVE spike in children wanting to transition and the lack of research around it.

We don’t want trans people to suffer we want them to have access to accurate medical advice and not have professionals too afraid to speak out.

This will really harm trans people, when trans stops being considered a disorder then the nhs will no longer have to fund it.
When they expand the law against conversion therapy to include trans people a professional could be struck off for suggesting therapy in children or adults who are experiencing gender dysphoria.
It’s going to really hurt trans people and we don’t think it’s ok.

We get tarred with the brush of transphobia but we have been fighting this the whole time even though we’re hated for it, in your corner not against you.

I will tell you the truth I was happy there was this 2 year cooling off period I welcomed the psychological briefings I attended every week, with the psychiatrist being very aggressive in his examinations of me, he was quite open with me an told me if there was even the smallest chance I was wrong he wouldn’t put me forward for the surgery , it is very necessary for this intense scrutiny,

I actually can understand why some trans people might have an issue with it, I remember a family friend going through it when I was about 11 and asking her why she never wore jeans and she said she had to live as a woman and I was like ‘but I wear jeans and my Mam wears jeans’ and she was like ‘when I’m a woman I’ll wear jeans too’.

I have a lot of sympathy for people transitioning I think you’re put in a no win wear girly clothes and be told you’re constructing an offensive sterotype, wear jeans and be at risk of not being put forward for the certificate.

There was no certificate back then I was in my own, I took letters I wrote myself to all the shops I used and advised them of what I was doing and that if they objected to me being in their store then I would respect that and look fir an alternative ,I did get a positive response from all the owners

I’m glad that we’ve come to the same page because when you come on hear it must just seem like we’re screaming about trans women for no reason. It must be very frightening, but we’re not hateful I promise. We just want the best for everyone and our opinions puts us in the firing line for attack so we can sometimes be defensive. If you look on a thread that’s going on right now a woman’s officer in the Labour Party, a 19 year old trans woman, is compiling a list of women she wants thrown out of the party for wanting to debate this law.
Another thread you can see is a go fund me page set up to challenge the Labour Party as they said that ‘anyone who self identifies as a woman’ can take jobs reserved for women. This go fund me page has been phissed and they are trying to ‘out’ the women who donated as transphobes.

It’s really shocking and we’re all quite raw about it. So when a trans woman comes on the forum and tries to show us that they aren’t evil people to be afraid of, we can get very frustrated.

We’re not evil people to be afraid of either. I promise.

As I said earlier my mother was a lesbian and when I was a child we were terrorised by a gang of local kids. They spray painted our house, put fireworks through the window, bricks through the window, just endless abuse, in the end the council moved us.
Though my experience is completely different I can fully empathise with that torment and it’s awful.

It’s my belief that if we didn’t have such strict gender rules then it wouldn’t be so difficult for society to accept people who step outside them.
