Every single Tory MP, grandee, media rep etc who went to bat for Toadface Young is now universally referring to the job he's resigned from as being for a 'quango'.

I'm just noting that, because I couldn't be happier about this. He is such an odious little arsehole.

Thank fuck. It was so briefly in the mainstream headlines that I was worried this was going to be one of those scandals where there's outrage for the day and then the media moves on so everyone feels helpless.

After the coalition government's bonfire of the quangos in 2010, quango became a dirty word and the remaining ones were degraded "non departmental government bodies" and "executive agencies" so that nobody could accuse the Tories of allowing a quango to continue. The OfS was set up by the Tories as a new NDPB, so it's interesting that they are now referring to it dismissively as a quango. I don't think anyone is fooled are they?

No - he's not been too bad as Universities Secretary actually. He was forced to back TY yesterday - what choice did he have. He isn't a thick-witted oaf like his brother at all, although I doubt he'll last till then end of the day.
