I wasn't going to make a thread about this until I saw Lily's response on Twitter.

I only saw this today and was wondering what the OP was talking about until I saw the end!

I am totally gobsmacked that they didn't put any lesbian females in there. Not even a token one. They must have realised when they were reading through it that were zero female lesbians in there. How fucking dare they!

Am glad they had pushback on in though and changed it.

Agree about the appropriation of intersex as a way of propping up the 'sex isn't binary' arguement. It's sick. Interesting that Hanne Gaby Odiele said she wanted intersex people to 'speak out against the unnecessary and harmful surgeries many of us were subjected to as children'.

Up to a point on twitter they tried to defend having no lesbians in the list as wait for it, they had trans "lesbians". Perhaps someone higher up than the social media monkey got leant on and had a word?

That petition site caved as well didn't they and changed the wording to include transwomen as 'lesbians'.

However, they, in addition to Pink News seemed to get roundly roasted on that twitter thread. It is heartening to see that more and more people appear to be speaking out on this.

And even if you believe that lesbians with and without penises are the same it seems interesting that no lesbians without penises were on the list. They should be more numerous in their lack of penis and therefore more numerous on the list all things being equal.

It's almost like the Pink News thinks lesbians with penises are 'better' for some reason... I wonder what that reason is. Considering that there were no transmen, also lacking in the penis department.
