...
None of them are actual female lesbians.
It's fine though because Lily Madigan is a lesbian. So not a lesbophobic list at all.
I wasn't going to make a thread about this until I saw Lily's response on Twitter.
Lily, as the awesome Magdalen Berns says, lesbians dont have penises. Ffs.

Agreed Tuna, us heterosexual women do owe lesbian feminists a lot. I hate how they are dismissed and demeaned, both by the left and right.

GuardianLions · 28/12/2017 11:54

It would be great if there was a lesbian feminist Hall of fame somewhere - no born males included. Or an award for lesbian feminists for things like bravery, thought leadership...

MakeMisogynyAHateCrime · 28/12/2017 11:59

It’s almost as though all logic went out the window to put together that list.

Logic Vs Feelings will be a very nasty war.

vesuvia · 28/12/2017 12:09

GuardianLions wrote - "It is astonishing how much energy antifeminists have put into this."

I'm not astonished. Their effort will be rewarded many times over if they win the women's rights versus transgender rights battle. If gender-critical feminists lose this battle over who is a woman and why, it could be the end of women's rights.

GuardianLions · 28/12/2017 12:21

I'm not astonished

I see what you are saying - that it will be a big win for the woman-haters, so makes sense as a strategic move.

But I think that is what I find so astonishing about it- it is so well thought-out and strategic. I normally think of extremist hate groups as being thuggish bully boys. But this suggests planning by educated, politically-savvy, even military people. Why do they hate women so much?

EamonnWright · 28/12/2017 12:49

As someone said above, they make it easier. I haven't even had a debate about it in ages, I just send folk links to stuff like the cotton ceiling and that maniac in Australia who boasted about hurting women while playing Aussie Rules. A look at comment sections on articles from even 6 months ago and now shows a massive difference.

The whole circus is just being constantly mocked. Even in Guardian articles.

I did get banned off The Independent the other day for laughing at a guy who went ballistic about Mrs Brown's Boys not selling the rights to Russia, I think, because they wouldn't ditch Rory the gay guy but Mrs Brown herself was an affront to all manner of things because it's literally murdering trans people.

Probably shouldn't laugh but I've never encountered a more obnoxious, dishonest group of people on the internet than trans'women'. I'm past caring about their feelings because they couldn't give a flying one about anyone else's.

There's a trans person here in Belfast who is/was the Green Party's LGB youth spokesperson and during and after a rally here regards abortion rights was tweeting absolute madness about how the rally was a cesspitt and so on because a lot if banners had, shock horror, the words women and pregnancy in close proximity.

I done something I've never done and emailed Clare Bailey with screenshots. The tweets were gone and her lgbt green youth tag or whatever disappeared too. It may be back now as I can't see as she has me blocked and I never interacted with her in Twitter, just seen her tweets Hmm

Ellen Murray they're called. An odious individual. Their candidate for West Belfast which includes both the Shankill and the Falls so good luck to him shouting his mouth off around those parts on the campaign trail.

I urge gender-critical feminists to remember that most defeated generals underestimated their enemy.

I don't imagine much deliberate planning takes place by anti-feminists. It's probably not even needed because they already have the power. I think a more important factor is that patriarchy-supporting ideas are not questioned enough by the general public, and patriarchy is able to brush off criticism because e.g. many women who are not gender-critical can't see that they are like turkeys voting for Christmas. In the transgender issue, these women think the issue is transgender rights, but the issue is actually about women's rights. Transgenderism is only the tactic. Patriarchy hates transsexual people and is using them to get at women.

MorbidMuch · 28/12/2017 13:03

I wonder if part of the reason the efforts of the TAs has increased in such a frenzied fashion is a result of the women's march following Trump's election. Men saw that women are a sizeable force and will turn out in great numbers of strength, so they need to go to more extreme lengths to silence them.

For me, the ranting about 'transphobic' pink pussy hats was the start of the current madness.

QuentinSummers · 28/12/2017 13:06

Yes Karen Ingala-smith!

Yes, I want to hear about women like that.

When you compare them to the L'Oreal model who makes no sense in interviews!

GuardianLions · 28/12/2017 13:18

Thanks Quentin! Gonna share that on social media! Xmas Smile

GuardianLions · 28/12/2017 13:39

I remember when MRAs identified the TRAs as a way to split feminism, just prior to identifying Black Feminism. It wasn't so strategic in the sense of 'back of the envelope' plotting - just opportunistic. And you are right about the existing power structures meaning they didn't have to work so hard. Cultural misogyny is a readily available and inexhaustible fuel they can exploit at any time.

But I still think the shepherding of young activists, the media and politicians has been pretty spectacular.

IrkThePurist · 28/12/2017 13:42

MGTOWs discuss how to use feminism against itself;

GuardianLions · 28/12/2017 14:26

Thanks Irk just watched that video - which he is talking about 2015 -some time after it all kicked off - and just after all the straight, white TIMs managed to promote the idea that they are more oppressed than WoCs according to a bastardised pomo version of intersectional theory. But he makes a fair point about male supremacist extremists independently having the same idea - a bit like Stephen Johnson's 'adjacent possible'.

GuardianLions · 28/12/2017 17:13

Karen Ingala-Smith started the hashtag #CelebrateLesbians if you fancy adding your lesbian heros of 2017 to the list Smile

MaidOfStars · 28/12/2017 17:32

Completely off topic but LM uses one emoji a lot - a girl holding an invisible pizza next to her ear. What does it mean? Is it like ‘What can I say?’

ArcheryAnnie · 28/12/2017 23:34

@BattleCunt why do you hate lesbians so much, that you are happy for them to be erased and excluded?

SimonBridges · 29/12/2017 09:59

What about Susan Calman for a start? She’s there front and centre on one of the BBCs most popular programs with her wife in the front row cheering her on.
I am so fucking angry about this.

I do notice that all the transwomen have lovely glamorous pictures. I’m guessing that the lesbians who are getting shit done don’t have the time for standing around on red carpets.

MentholBreeze · 29/12/2017 10:07

Maid - according to the emojipedia (what a world we live in) LM's probably going for 'Sassy'

emojipedia.org/information-desk-person/

An information desk person, iconically represented in the Apple emoji artwork as a girl holding out her hand as if she were a waitress carrying an invisible tray of drinks.

Can be used for a variety of interpretations, such as sassiness or sarcasm.

Person Tipping Hand was approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010 under the name “Information Desk Person” and added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.

Also known as
💁 Bellhop
💁 Concierge
💁 Hair Flick
💁 Sassy Girl

SimonBridges · 29/12/2017 11:27

I’ve gone away and had a think about this and I am so very angry about this.

Where are the transmen? All it seems to take is for a man to put on a dress, look fabulous and they get on the list.
I bet there are lots of transmen out there doing stuff but they aren’t crowing about it.

Parsleyisntfood · 29/12/2017 11:55

This is such a horrid back step. I have no desire to see the end of trans people. Dress how you want, call yoursel what you want. I support that.
Wearing a frock doesn’t eliminate women struggle. I work in a very male dominated environment and I’ve never felt unsafe. I was discussing it with a friend who was interested and I could thank the women that have gone before me enough. There’s crap to deal with and it isn’t equal but it’s safe and I feel safe. This is bloody huge. Denying the existence of women will undo all this.
That’s what I see. Women’s existence being denied. We have masses of evidence of what happens when women don’t count.
I don’t know any trans people in real life (to the best of my knowledge). I’d love to have this discussion with someone who isn’t going for retweets and likes.

MaidOfStars · 29/12/2017 12:01

Thanks Menthol, I shall refer to Emojipedia for all my future I’m Too Old For This Shit emoji-based enquiries.

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/12/2017 20:15

Well I never!!! They threw a couple of token lesbians in there. I'm not entirely sure if it is patronizing and sad that they changed it or a win. I'm inclined to think it won't change what they do in future and is therefore just a token.

UPDATE: This article has been updated following feedback from PinkNews readers to include a wider range of figures

Ereshkigal · 30/12/2017 20:21

"A wider range of figures"?

QuentinSummers · 30/12/2017 20:22

I think it's a win, because it shows there was an outcry. Good stuff Grin
