Which female MPs are not 'out' as part of the "TW are women" brigade?

Can we have a quick list? Eg if someone has seen them comment on twitter or in TV interviews one way or the other. Or if they have remained resolutely silent on the issue.

I'm in Scotland so while I am still particularly interested in Labour and Cons at the moment, I'm also interested about Scottish MPs/MSPs, if anyone knows.

I nearly didn't post this thread because on one hand I don't want to draw attention to them. I think (if I was an MP) in the current climate, I would stay quiet too as a gender critical woman. It's just too dangerous to speak out. I respect that.

But on the other hand, I want to know who is for women, against women, or sitting quietly (which I will assume means for women, but scared). I want to know if I can still respect the ones I used to respect as feminists, eg Harriet Harman, Yvette Cooper etc. At the minute, I feel like I don't know who to trust.

Ps, I'm politically homeless at the moment. I see no party that is 'safe' for women and women's rights. So I'm not asking in a way to pit one party against the other or anything.

Name changed - Not a well known name as she rebelled against Corbyn and resigned but anyone know about Lisa Nandy? (Lab)

Owen Jones has been promoting her and they tweet each other but I've no idea about her opinions on this. She is usually more interested in poverty, children, child abuse cover ups and refugees.

She tried to raise awareness of sexual harassment of mps 3 years ago and was herself subjected to crass commenting on her cleavage by the press 6 years ago.

Just read the Liz McInnes thread and there is someone on there kicking up a fuss about Stefonknee being misgendered! World has gone mad

Ive supported Liz McInnes's tweet - I've written to my local MP but got a stock answer, I'm going to reply & ask her to speak to Liz McInnes & Jess Phillips about their understanding of the issues women are raising, and copy them in - can't hurt?

Good for you sooper. I’ve been writing to my MP and other organisations. Someone has to stand up for women against this men’s rights movement.

Saw the Liz McInnes tweet, was hugely cheered by it.

I am also cheered by Liz McInnes's tweet, I hope this is going to be the start of a reasoned debate on the issues affecting women and girls.

**Halfwit labour "branch chairman", no less.

Best throw your manly credentials into the request so Labour UK takes notice.

Who do I ask to investigate Jeremy Corbyn? He is being photographed with an ever increasing stream of misogynistic wombats using his image to promote their abhorrent views.

The above branch chairman wombat is very concerned about the misgendering of Stephonknee.

It didn't take long to take him down there though did it? Four tweets and out!

ArcheryAnnie · 17/12/2017 21:57

And he's accusing gender-crit feminists of abusing their children! Bloody hell, he's really going for Owen Jones' crown as "Baby-Faced Misogynist Of The Year", isn't he?

WTAFisthisshit · 17/12/2017 21:59

The Labour Party should be investigating HIM.

He's a bit confused
He says
Firstly, women includes trans women already, what she's asking for is cis people to get a voice in a debate they have no place in.

It would be like asking a white person to be included in a debate on racism. Unhelpful, derailing and minimising to those effected.

This is really confusing. Is he really saying women should keep their traps shut because trans women are the only kind of women qualified to comment on womanhood?
How misogynistic

Liz McInnes has just stuck her head above the parapet (and predictably got a load of abuse for it)
twitter.com/lizmcinnes_mp/status/942160540268400641

I've just looked at this and saw the response from @SophiaSmith222 posting a photo of an "all-woman" panel at Manchester University where every single women on the panel is a biological male!! She points out that, as they all use female names, when anyone looks back at the records of the meeting, it will look like these are the views of women.

I love all the shouty comments on that twitter thread about how women have NO RIGHT to speak for or about transgender women as we have NO understanding of them!!!
I didn't know that an irony fail was a prerequisite to being trans Grin

From reading the Liz Mcinnes tweet comments I think some of the people who believe that those apposing the GRA are transphobes believe that transgender people have had sexual realignment surgery, I don't think the self-ID changes are fully known or understood.

Report
Lemand · 17/12/2017 22:58

guardianfree the very fact that some transgender people don't understand the concern from women highlights that they literally do not understand what it is like to be a woman. Irony stacked upon irony.
