Christmas Hampers

Just been sent a Xmas hamper from Fortnum & Mason by a work contact. Now, I'm really not ungrateful - it's full of lovely things - but why do they always include tea & coffee? It's not like most people don't already have that at home ...

Feminism? Confused

LloydSpinjago · 08/12/2017 18:37

Fucking patriarchy Angry

Glowerglass · 08/12/2017 18:38

Preach sister!

Piratesandpants · 08/12/2017 18:39

Casual sexism. I’d send it right back to the bastard.

hipsterfun · 08/12/2017 18:40

Why the tea-coffee binary? Hmm

AssassinatedBeauty · 08/12/2017 18:41

🤷🏼‍♀️

(Very good stealth boast btw, not sure what the feminist angle on this is though)

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 08/12/2017 18:42

There isn't. And Fortnums do some lovely tea- we are not talking PG Tips.

Dozer · 08/12/2017 18:42

YABU: tea and coffee are useful staples, so posh versions are likely to be popular.

Dozer · 08/12/2017 18:43

Sexual harrassment by your colleague by hamper eh?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 08/12/2017 18:43

OP can send it to me if it bothers her that much. I love Fortnum & Mason.

hipsterfun · 08/12/2017 18:45

Proper tea is theft!

(I’ll get my coat.)

extinctspecies · 08/12/2017 18:46

What?

Nowhere did I say it was unwelcome, or any form of harassment.

Just wondered about the tea & coffee as loose-leaf tea and ground coffee aren't really practical for me.

But I will enjoy scoffing the chocolates, biscuits, marmalade etc. Although interestingly there aren't any xmas-themed items in it ...

Someone else is going to come on here and tell me I've got first world problems & I should give it to a food bank. In fact that's not a bad idea ...

hipsterfun · 08/12/2017 18:48

OP, you know you’ve posted this in Feminism chat, right?

hipsterfun · 08/12/2017 18:49

Was there booze in the hamper —that you’ve already drunk— ?

extinctspecies · 08/12/2017 18:50

Oh fuck how did I do that???

Thought this was ordinary chat!

Their loose leaf Christmas tree is lovely.

DH wanted to open the bottle of wine immediately but i said no as it's probably too nice to guzzle between the 2 of us on an ordinary Friday night in.

OP posts:
extinctspecies · 08/12/2017 18:51

That sounds nice, this is bog standard loose-leaf tea though.

I'll have them. I only use loose leaf tea- sometimes bought from Fortnums.

extinctspecies · 08/12/2017 18:53

Actually the tins are really pretty so I can reuse those.

Nobody wants a tree with loose leaves. Ask for a refund.

AssassinatedBeauty · 08/12/2017 18:54

Isn't the theory that loose leaf makes a better cup of tea? Not sure why though.

newtlover · 08/12/2017 18:54

think of it as an opportunity to try real tea and real coffee! you'll never look back!
