Lily Madigan, TIM, elected Labour women's officer

Lily is 19. Lily was instrumental in the hate campaign against Anne Ruzylo which resulted in her standing down.

You have to be a woman to be women’s officer but ‘The Labour councillor said that “lived experience as a woman” should be considered an advantage — but not a prerequisite — for the role of women’s officer.’

Lily could also have gone for the LGBT officer role but they didn’t want that. No, they wanted to show women that they can shit all over them and we will applaud them for doing it.

I’m absolutely furious about this ( as you can probably tell)

DonkeySkin: "If people actually believed they were women, no one would coddle them the way they do. They'd tell them to sit down, shut up, stop being so hysterical and subordinate their needs to more important causes."

That sound you can hear is a long, bitter laugh. But yes, you're bang on.

hackmum · 20/11/2017 15:52

Superlandlady: the rape joke is in his profile - it's simply the URL rape.com/savillesassistant

The "joke", I assume, is that he is learning how to be a rapist from Jimmy Savile.

I didn't say it was funny...

hackmum · 20/11/2017 15:53

If you want to report it to the Labour Party, here's the archive:

hackmum · 20/11/2017 15:53

Sorry: archive.is/jvdIa

WitchBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 20/11/2017 15:53

What to do about my Labour membership? As other PPs have said there are no political parties who represent my values anymore. It's truly depressing and frightening.

MacaroonMama · 20/11/2017 16:02

This is a really dumb question - but if they have broken the law as the Gender ID Bill has not gone through yet - can we inform them of that? Or the police?! Obvs the non-urgent way. Sorry, I am blinded to common sense because of the RAGE!!!

BatShite · 20/11/2017 16:02

If you don't believe me, consider what would have happened under Blair if this situation arose. I strongly suspect it would never have happened in the first place because Blair, Campbell and Mandelson would have crushed the issue before it got this far in order to protect female labour votes.

Indeed. Blair has many faults but I really really doubt this shit would have gone on with him in charge.

Until fairly recently I was a really strong supporter or Corbyn. I now wish someone strong could challenge him for leadership and win. Where in the past I have hoped he would win all contests. I agree with him on near every other issue but this, but to me, this erasing of women is THE issue to be concerned about right now.

I could never ever vote Tory. They are just as bad on this issue tbh but even if they weren't I could never forgive their treatment of the poor and the disabled.

It really does feel there is noone to vote for in this current state.

MillicentFawcett · 20/11/2017 16:05

If you're a member of the Labour party, I urge you to report Madigan's twitter page to Labour HQ and also ask if Madigan has a GRC. I very much doubt they do, given their age and the fact they only started transitioning a year ago. I would also ask what the protocol is for appointing someone who is being investigated for bullying a serving Labour officer out of her post and causing mass resignation of an entire CLP.

I hope this debacle shows Momentum up for the bunch of fucking shysters they are.

I also wonder who is pulling Madigan's strings. They said they watched a lot of YouTube videos. Who's advising in the background?

OlennasWimple · 20/11/2017 16:13

MacaroonMama - I don't think they have broken the law, jsut the Labour Party's own guidelines about who is eligible to stand for official positions

Does anyone know Carol, the other candidate for the post? (Her surname was missing from that summary of votes cast upthread) The right thing is probably for her to make an official complaint that an ineligible candidate was elected, thus depriving her of the post.

Popchyk · 20/11/2017 16:17

In practical terms, I wonder how many women would feel comfortable going to this Women's Officer to discuss any issues that they might have. Like sex discrimination, bullying, health issues.

I'm guessing very few.

So the Women's Officer's workload will go down naturally you would think, leaving them free to pursue other interests.

Any bets that this person will then claim the credit for reducing the number of issues reported by women? As the reports of issues from women decrease there will be a corresponding increase in issues raised by transwomen. Only the trans voice will be heard; women will be erased.

Cos I can see that coming a mile away.

AssignedPerfectAtBirth · 20/11/2017 16:17

Millicent.

But it's not just Momentum, Ed Miliband is at it too. Tbh there are few who aren't

catgirl1976 · 20/11/2017 16:23

What is the best way to report the Twitter rape jokes to Labour? And - should we be reporting this to the press as well? The Times seems to be the most open to challenging this. If it's in the press then I think Labour would act more quickly..

Datun · 20/11/2017 16:23

Fat jokes and dick jokes too.

The women of Twitter on it. He also does suck my dick jokes and fat jokes.

hazeyjane · 20/11/2017 16:30

Is the twitter account definitely the right person?

Mind you even if it is, then sending a link to the Labour party will be committing the literal violence of referring to a transwoman before they decide to identify as a woman.

53rdWay · 20/11/2017 16:32

Looks like the right person. Could I suppose be an account set up in his name & not by him though - the location is “Connor’s phone”.

DonkeySkin · 20/11/2017 16:36

'Savillesassistant' seems to refer not just to rape, but to child rape. Meaning, a wish to assist Jimmy Savile in sexually abusing children, no?

TheCopyist · 20/11/2017 16:42

I'd suggest a Labour member (assuming there are any left) sends details of Liam's account to compliance.

DonkeySkin · 20/11/2017 16:42

Sorry, just checked hackmum's link, it's 'savillesapprentice'. Even worse. Ugh.

YouStoleTheBowlFromTheRoom · 20/11/2017 16:55

Here's Lily three years ago, as his previous incarnation of "Liam" - 16yo boy and lover of Jimmy Savile rape jokes.

YouStoleTheBowlFromTheRoom · 20/11/2017 16:56

Ugh, cross-posted. Ignore me, opening tabs then forgetting them Blush

TitaniasCloset · 20/11/2017 16:56

By employing him in this post the Labour Party has now put him in this situation where every post and past tweet will be analysed and he as the public face will take most of the flack.

I don’t normally have much sympathy for these narcissists but he is only 19, younger than my three eldest children. Who the hell approved this? It should not have been allowed to happen, especially to a youth with gender dysphasia, this should have been shut down right at the start.

TitaniasCloset · 20/11/2017 16:57

Dysphoria rather

RogueBiscuit · 20/11/2017 17:04

I've cancelled my membership and explained why. I've previously contacted them about these issues and I've never once had a reply.

I don't think emails or letters will have any effect. If women stay they will think we accept it.

DonkeySkin · 20/11/2017 17:06

Titania's Closet, it's unlikely that the press will publish personal tweets or posts made by a minor. When I worked in journalism we weren't even allowed to publish the last names of children, except in exceptional circumstances.

He is not the victim here, really.

Elendon · 20/11/2017 17:14

Does this not mean that all of Mumsnet is now transphobic?

We discuss the biology of being a woman and what it means to us, as women.

Are we all who post on here transphobes now?
