I've scrolled back a few pages and I can't even find the last pub thread.

So I've taken the beer towels off the pumps, tapped a new barrel, polished the glasses, fed the goat and applied brasso to the patriarchy busting canon.

Come and join me - all tastes catered for - beer, gin, wine, cocktails, coffee and a nice cup of tea.

Puffins, nah. I have 2 girls and a boy. They all ignore me. Smile

PuffinsSitOnMuffins · 17/10/2017 20:28

ISay that doesn't sound fun. You probably just have to grit your teeth and get through the wee epidemic I guess. Can you discuss your ideas about the house with DH?

ISaySteadyOn · 17/10/2017 20:52

The wee seems to be over. They're only small. But honestly, it was awful. The washing machine was constant.

The house, well, not really. It's just one of those things where decorating has to wait. My main job that I can do is
decluttering. But I wish I could look at something and say I fixed that.
I am also still bothered by DH being better at housework than me. His mum raised him to do it. My parents didn't. They hired someone. I am learning but it is hard.
Anyway, tomorrow is another day.

PuffinsSitOnMuffins · 17/10/2017 20:59

It could be worse I guess - all the stories on here of deliberate male incompetence with housework! Tomorrow is another day is a good motto.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/10/2017 21:10

Has anyone ever met a bloke who'd have had that concern?

When my DD was at the 'accident' phase, my actual black dog apparently decided that it was now acceptable for him to wee on the furniture too ... urgh, dog piss is something else. We ended up having to get new sofa cushions and a lot of steam cleaning. As ever 'this too shall pass'.

SerendipityFelix · 17/10/2017 21:50

Nice to see the pub resurrected and I’d like to sign in, I was never brave enough to before.

I’m off work with an injury, meaning as long as I’m on my painkillers I feel fine and it’s frustrating. Have been comforting myself with a binge of Big Bang Theory, it requires suspending feminist thinking though.

elephantoverthehill · 17/10/2017 22:38

I'm in for a swift hot toddy before I toddle off to bed. Re: the earlier conversation, I had a boyfriend when I was about 19 who said 'You better learn to drink pints because I won't be going back to the bar twice as much just for you'. We are still very good friends. Also I think the phrase with any living creature should be 'This too will piss'.

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2017 22:39

Mm-almost cold enough for a hot whiskey........

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 17/10/2017 22:40

Hey bertrand

How is the chatty man thread going Grin

BitterLittlePoster · 18/10/2017 00:23

A pint for me please.
And I have a small thing to share. My dd is in her first year at an extremely social justicey uni. They've got women's rooms and single gender neutral bathrooms. No men's! Hah

ErrolTheDragon · 18/10/2017 00:50

Well, thats a turn up for the books. Grin

CaptainWarbeck · 18/10/2017 01:33

Isay your post reminded me of this Mitchell and Webb parody advert about sexist advertising...

'...and your children's clothes are filthy' Grin

ISaySteadyOn · 18/10/2017 06:31

Captain, exactly what I was referring to. I love that sketch.

GoGoGazelle · 18/10/2017 06:33

Really really strong coffee please. Well, it is early.

QuentinSummers · 18/10/2017 07:38

nolove you still here? How is the no - makeup going?

QuentinSummers · 18/10/2017 07:39

My DH and I both have PhDs and yesterday the school sent a letter addressed to Dr and Dr Mrs Summers Angry Angry
DH and eldest D'S think I overreacted by having a rant....

PricklyBall · 18/10/2017 08:07

"Men! Shave and get drunk. Because you're already brilliant"

I love that, Captain

Dr Mrs Grin doesn’t even make sense.

I spent some time volunteering in a place that spoke a kind of creole, everyone would be addressed as Miss/Mr Firstname, my male colleague was just Dr Firstname but I became Miss Dr Firstname as people just couldn’t cope with a woman being called Dr! It was out of utmost respect, still felt weird.

BeyondNoone · 18/10/2017 08:21

Do we have a decent Italian espresso? This is the earliest I've been up in weeks Grin

You didn't overreact. That would annoy me. Complain.

PricklyBall · 18/10/2017 08:30

In Germany it's Frau (or Herr) Doktor whatever your name is...

(Interestingly Fraulein has fallen out of use for adult women entirely - Frau now carries no connotations about marital status at all)

I need coffee. Perimenopause hormone chaos and snoring DH made me resort to Zopiclone last night. I'm up in body only and hsve 6 hours' strategy workshoppiness ahead of me. Right now, I'd be pushed to strategise about my lunch, let alone the next 5 years.

NoLoveofMine · 18/10/2017 08:53

You definitely didn't overreact! Although they at least managed to correctly put "Dr" as Felix said it doesn't even make sense. I think other than Dr etc the only titles should be "Ms" and "Mr" anyway. If a man changes his surname if he marries then his title stays as "Mr" so women should just have "Ms".

Thanks for asking about my aim to stop wearing makeup Quentin! I have hugely cut down and never wear it to school anymore. I have to admit I haven't completely stopped wearing it as I aimed to but I also don't wear it every time I socialise now. It has felt quite liberating even though I always felt I looked better with it (and haven't completely got rid of that sentiment) to be happy going out with no makeup on and being happy with my appearance!

ErrolTheDragon · 18/10/2017 09:01

My DM once sent our xmas card to Dr and Mrs ...just the once!Grin

I need to get moving. I work part time from home, and since DD left for uni my day has slipped. I really need to curfew my iPad use at night, I think. We're going on holiday soon, I may be able to break my habit then - sometimes going cold turkey is the only way.

MayorGoodway · 18/10/2017 09:08

Hey,
