I've scrolled back a few pages and I can't even find the last pub thread.

So I've taken the beer towels off the pumps, tapped a new barrel, polished the glasses, fed the goat and applied brasso to the patriarchy busting canon.

Come and join me - all tastes catered for - beer, gin, wine, cocktails, coffee and a nice cup of tea.

Should step away from the keyboard. I am feeling really arsey tonight and keep swearing at trolly mactroll faces. It is strangely liberating.

I don't usually drop in here but there is yet another "modest clothing" thread going on in AIBU. I'm at boiling point at some of the comments.

Quentin Phillip Pullman La Belle Sauvage just started it.

Just finished Louise Welsh's The Girl on the Stairs which, like almost all thrillers, I really enjoyed but then got to the end and thought "eh? how did that work?"

Oh and Laura Purcell - The Silent Companions which is a faux Victorian Gothic mad woman in the attic book but thoroughly enjoyable.

Butter, you probably missed the golden moment where the OP (and her team of sockies) said, apropos of "educating us", that she now felt she knew how her school teachers felt. Someone immediately came back with "I think we ALL know how your school teachers feel."

I'm a little bit disappointed that it was zapped before we got to meet mummy sock puppet. I was looking forward to the OP trying to channel her inner "old biddy" (as she so charmingly characterised us).

My health can't take too many of THOSE threads 😡 Twitter is making my brain explode - BUT a trans supportive US friend who follows me on there asked what was going on, I told her about changes to our GRA and no safeguards, she immediately came back with admitting she'd never thought of predators using a trans ID... so that's another one on the road to the emperors new clothes moment I think.

A really positive encounter at the weekend with a male friend who caught me in the middle of a Twitter rage and asked why. All I said was that there was a proposal to allow anyone to self identify as trans. His immediate reaction was "so any old pervert can go into a women's changing room?" I knew there was a good reason we'd been friends for so long.....

The trans TERF stuff is making me want a triple vodka please, bar staff. With a muscle relaxant on the side.

I think one of the issues with the "not realising it will be used as access to harm" is that people who insist on a rosy view of the world will say a) it will be a tiny minority so is equal to trans discrimination if that is factored in and b) such a man would find a way to harm anyway. The latter is true but why the fuck do they want to make things easier for those men?

On a different topic, my friend who said that she hadn't thought of that, uses the expression "don't piss on people's chips". I have to say, right now I see huge numbers of people happily munching chips that need a good dousing in pee....though I daresay that level of rose colouredness probably persuades taste buds that it's vinegar.

And another thing!!

I was rewatching Pride the other night. There's a scene with Mark saying "whatever insults they throw at us, we claim as our own". So if they think TERF means prude, great, I'll be that too. I think women have been labelled prudes for centuries for saying what they don't want to do!
