www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/aflw/transgender-footballer-hannah-mouncey-waits-on-aflw-draft-call/news-story/123a463e71aa3c4b9bbd634724ce8f75

Hannah Mouncey wants to join the Australian Football League (this is basically rugby) Women's division.
"Mouncey played the final three games in the ruck for Ainslie and kicked 15 goals, with Canberra officials ruling she was not a safety concern."

this despite the fact
"one [female] player broke her leg in a tangle of legs with Mouncey."

Mouncey says:
“I am female like 50 per cent of the population. I may have been born a bit different but there was a real sense of normality when I transitioned,” she said.

The average MALE AFL player is 188cm and 88kg, so Hannah is both taller and heavier, and if admitted will both the tallest and heaviest player in the entire league.

Hannah was previously on the Australian MALE Olympic handball team as Callum Mouncey.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...

Another cheating twat (
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/2882375-Cate-McGregor-SIXTY-year-old-man-now-elite-womens-cricketer) has come out to say that this cheating twat should be allowed to play

www.theage.com.au/afl/womens-afl/cate-mcgregor-says-transgender-footballer-hannah-mouncey-should-be-selected-in-aflw-draft-20171015-gz18dw.html

"There's no getting around the fact if you've played predominantly male sport as a bloke you are socially conditioned to have a slight advantage over women,"

""A lot of things change when you start putting estrogen in your body, we retain some of our body strength and your height doesn't change, but Hannah is not the same person."

"There is less muscle development and less physical strength but there is a core element to her confidence which is certainly an advantage."

"I don't think it's fair or unfair, it's just who she is, she can't unlearn the conditioning she had at the formative periods of her career which do give her a slight competitive advantage".

"She's been hard-wired as a young person to compete for the ball differently, so her ball awareness and game awareness would be very different to an average female player."

Why do men get to spout this sexist bollocks unchallenged under the fraudulent misrepresentation that they are actually women? I mean it's like Nigel Farage claiming to represent socialism, or something, except nobody says 'shut the fuck up, you don't represent women'

He continues

"She has to ignore the muppets but it is draining and taxing because you're a lightning rod for abuse, there's really nasty stuff written by dickheads who haven't even played the game and just don't like women's sport."

I'm horrified that anyone could even consider letting a transwoman compete in female sports!

I have a football-mad 14 year old son. He's a skinny thing, the same height as me now, but about 2 stone lighter. He's not long into puberty, but is already much stronger than me. We can no longer have the same sort of kickabout in the garden that we did for years - he can totally floor me in a tackle, and I won't go in goal any more, because he kicks the ball so damn hard that I am genuinely scared! And this is a skinny kid we are talking about, not a fully grown man.

I've not played group sport since I was a teenager, but there was never such a stark difference in sheer physical strength between me and the other girls.

notafish · 15/10/2017 12:27

Yes Datun. "Apart from the obvious physical differences, that can never be eliminated, he's taking the place of a woman. The conclusion of which is that women's sport will be pointless." We must not lose sight of this point.

HornyTortoise · 15/10/2017 13:09

But we work with one bloke, he's maybe 5'7? And he could crush me. Just from sheer density of muscle. Even if I worked out all day I'd never match him. Men and women are different.

Yes, I went through this with DH when I first told him about transwomen in sports. He 'got it' and said it was massively unfair (fallon fox was the example I gave him, and showed him the video of fallon beating a woman to a pulp) but said that maybe smaller transwomen would be ok...ugh. I said to him that our friend who is absolutely tiny could likely overpower me (I am a large woman) if he really felt like it...DH didn't believe me. A few weeks later said friend was taking the piss about something and managed to slam me against a wall with little effort. DH got it then...

bambambini · 15/10/2017 14:44

Caroline Layt was another Australian TW rugby player. Layt's a bit bitter that their team mates and opposing players didn't really accept them and thinks TERFS just have penis envy. It's a long piece but interesting indight into a ME ME ME selfishness/narcissism. carolinelayt.tumblr.com/post/150343141737/now-i-know-why-i-was-so-hated-i-was-bullied

ALittleBitOfButter · 17/10/2017 07:42

That Layt thing is essential reading for any terf. Shocking.

Apparently the AFLW has turned down the transwoman. But I've only heard it as a headline. Don't know the details.

HidingBehindTheWallpaper · 17/10/2017 08:30

Two questions.

Are the rest of the team going to be expect to shower and change with Hannah?

If we can have one trans woman in a professional team how long will it be until an international team is completely transwomen giving that team a guaranteed win of the World Cup.

pisacake · 17/10/2017 08:35

Yes Mouncey has been turned down.

www.abc.net.au/news/2017-10-17/transgender-footballer-ruled-ineligible-for-aflw-draft/9059108

Which is common sense good news.

However only for this year. He can try again next year.

"The AFL said the subcommittee took into account the stage of maturity of the AFLW competition, its current player base and Mouncey's individual circumstances."

So basically this is another one of those 'well you're not as much of a woman as a transwoman, but maybe if you try harder you will be'.

Shame they can't just say 'no men allowed'.

OP posts:
ALittleBitOfButter · 17/10/2017 08:51

It is a shame they can't say, no, er, you have a male body even if you have a ladybrain, and this competition was created for female bodies, you know, the ones who've never actually been allowed to play before.

I just heard Hannah on the radio. Good for peak trans - Hannah just speaks like your average male sportsplayer.

I suppose life is hard because they is 'weak as kittens'. (I read a transwoman commenting on a reddit AFL thread that they can't even lift up their shopping bag any more.).

Faceicle · 17/10/2017 08:52

During the last few months I've read many trans related things that have made me furious, or heartbroken, or despairing. I have never howled with laughter before. Thanks for sharing that bambambini. And for anyone who hasn't read it allow me to share a highlight: "cis is Latin for not trans".

Datun · 17/10/2017 08:58

That article. Ticks all the boxes. I’ve never read such a pile of self-serving drivel in all my life. (To be fair, I still haven’t, because I had to skim two thirds of it.)

Had seven bedrooms to choose from, but chose her mothers bedroom to practice her fetish. They honestly don’t realise how their entitlement and willingness to violate boundaries drips off every word.

Their anger and resentment was fuelled one hundred percent by jealousy and misunderstanding! They saw this as their right, as they viewed me as someone as lesser than themselves due to my transgender status. They tried to take my humanity away from me.

This is a recurring theme. I’ve heard TRAs say over and over how women view them as lesser. It’s such projection. And the women aren’t jealous, they’re furious.

And asserting that feminists want to put other women down all the time. Dear me.

Plus the constant reaction to people’s negativity is to say but you knew what I’ve been through.

I wish a psychiatrist would analyse these people’s articles. Because they all come across in exactly the same way.

Datun · 17/10/2017 09:02

Layt before deciding he has the right to compete as a woman.

This is Kirsti Miller another AFL TW player who has faced team mates and opponents who don't want Kirsti to play with women -but Kirsti knows her rights. Kirtsi is sldo early 50's - wonder the ages of the other female players. The video is interesting.

“The difference between men and women is their brain not their body”

Ffs.

brasty · 17/10/2017 10:31

Of course he is a lesbian (sigh)

Datun · 17/10/2017 10:33

... who refers to himself as a girl, despite being 48.

Tick, tick, tick.

ALittleBitOfButter · 17/10/2017 10:41

Ugh. I can't even watch that. I hate all things to do with footy because it's saturated in sexism. And now it's affecting the women's league which was such a great thing to happen. All the men on Reddit are chortling about how it's fine to allow transwomen because "it's the testosterone level rules". Underneath they actually just want to fuck it up for women and stop them having their own chance at a game.

Incidentally it's not just women that AFL culture despises. The treatment of Aboriginal players is beyond belief. Utterly shocking.

Cocolepew · 17/10/2017 11:10

That article! How many times did he write intrinsic?!
I lost the will to live half way through.

Ereshkigal · 17/10/2017 12:32

I was marking a young girl who had first represented the NSW team the previous year. I thought I’m going to use all my guile and experience and I’m going to make her regret marking me. All my rhythm started coming back to me. I’d hit it up and I saw fear in her eyes. I had seen this fear in other players eyes before when I was in my prime and making representative teams on a regular basis. It only made me go harder. I was also hitting her hard in defence. In attack each time I ran at her, I could tell she was rattled and scared to tackle me. I was making metres of yardage each time I ran the ball forward and I knew I had mentally broken her.

Yes, I wonder why she was afraid of tackling you.

HidingBehindTheWallpaper · 17/10/2017 14:01

That is disgraceful, no wonder the 'young girl' s/he was marking was frightened.

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 17/10/2017 14:52

The testosterone thing is such crap anyway - it's purposefully set within the male range rather than the female range.

TW who want to compete in women's sports according to the IoC have to keep testosterone levels below 10nmol/L for a year. If a man had testosterone levels tested as part of fertility investigations, 10nol/L would not be considered low enough to have an impact on fertility, it is considered a healthy if low level for a man.

Female athletes as a group have higher testosterone levels than the average women, and yet 99% have testosterone below 3.1nmol/L.

So basically, TW have over 3 times the levels of testosterone than even the most extreme female athletes AND they benefit from male puberty, male bone structure and musculature built whilst having much higher testosterone levels. It's a fucking outrage.

www.theage.com.au/afl/aflw-transgender-ruck-hannah-mouncey-set-to-continue-playing-in-afl-canberra-20171018-gz35xc.html

"The AFL has cleared Mouncey to compete in community level competitions because football at that level is based around participation, inclusion, and involvement"

What kind of inclusion involves frightening women away (Mouncey has already broken a woman's leg) by including men? Fuck that.

OP posts:
OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 18/10/2017 12:59

With my cynical hat on I'd say the reason they're allowing Mouncey to play at community level is that they're not responsible for the insurance there, the individual clubs are, whereas the AFL is the overall insurer at professional level and would be liable to be sued.

This is a sports performance expert trying to ave a rational discussion on it.
