14 year old girl raped in broad daylight

Not that any rape in any circumstance isn't horrendous but yet another horrific case, a 14 year old girl raped in a park in the middle of the day. That this kind of thing goes on and receives so little coverage is abhorrent. I'm so angry at the lives of women and girls being ruined like this, because these men choose to attack. I'm not articulating this too well but am just enraged.

Fuck me. DN4GeekinDerby

Your experience was horrendous. Bloody hideous.

But to have the analytical skills, and self awareness to say this:

Not for a moment have I thought what happened to me was diminished or ignored by being clear that male violence (which perpetuates power = force) is the core to be tackled.

Is nothing short of heroic.

Its brilliant that he takes on board what you say. You are, obviously, in a unique position to tell him.

I'm glad it gives him food for thought.

Letting other people, men particularly, understand is vital. As sadly, it is often they who make the decisions that affect women.

Indeed Datun although I would be less than impressed if he didn't! I agree it's great that he does, though, listen and ask how I feel about these things, very much paying attention and taking heed of what I say (on feminism more broadly as well). I've also told him I don't like the notion men should only care about feminism if they have daughters/because of female relatives - they should care because misogyny is something no woman or girl should ever experience. I also as I've posted before talk to my brothers about it all (particularly the elder) as boys and men very much need to understand. Unfortunately, they're often more effective in communicating with and changing attitudes of other males too I think.

I'm very surprised. What was their justification to think he was asking for it?

Sorry for the late reply.
If I recall, they were implying or assuming that he was involved in drug or gang troubles, so not entirely innocent.
