For anyone interested there is a debate about the new legislation and gender this Wednesday evening in South London

Miranda Yardley and the Julia Long are speakers. I will definitely be attending so hope to see a few of you there.

To be honest I was a little disappointed that everyone from the other side pulled out. It meant the event was very much preaching to the converted. I didn't feel like I could have brought a neutral person along and peak transed them. If we'd actually had a debate then people would have been able to see the gaping holes in their logic. I guess that's why they have to use violence to shut things down instead.

Sadly things were cut short quite a lot so it's not really a reflection of the event as planned. What was amazing though was the chance to meet other work and talk in the pub afterwards. There were some great people there and it was lovely to make some new friends and feel part of a community.

HemlockIsSpartacus · 14/09/2017 10:30

wowl I'm sure she said on the other thread that the camera was attached to her wrist on a strap, so imagine that was why she seems to be holding on

Datun · 14/09/2017 10:31

wowl

To be honest, I'm struggling to make out the details on that video myself. It's beyond frustrating that the woman who is filming gave her camera to a stranger to go to the aid of the other woman. And the stranger was all over the place with her filming.

I do know that woman who was beaten had her camera strapped to her wrist. So when they tried to take it it was attached to her. I can't tell whether that is evident from the video.

She retrieved her camera eventually, but the memory card had been removed. So that's theft, right there.

From what she has said, she tried to defend herself and stop them taking her camera. Women defending themselves is a red flag to a man. And it looks as though they were more than happy to have the ante upped as it gave them an excuse to beat her.

To be honest, they are so goading, that I imagine this is the goal.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/09/2017 10:36

The TAs trying to discredit the victim have said she taunted them and hypothesised that actually the far right set the whole thing up (lol). But nobody has accused her of having initiated the physical side of the confrontation, so I think there must be enough witnesses who saw that that definitely didn't happen, for them to know that wouldn't fly, iyswim.

SophoclesTheFox · 14/09/2017 10:38

It is disappointing, timbuktu. It's a common tactic though- TRAs frequently refuse to share a stage with gender critical people. I'm aware of a number of in person and TV debates that have been pulled because they won't show up.

Then they take to twitter an claim it's because they're afraid of violence, or can't debate with people who "want them erased". There's never any evidence to support this fear. And there's no record that I'm aware at, that a feminist has ever hurt or physically threat ned a transactivist.

They won't debate it because they can't. All they have is emotional blackmail, suicide threats, dodgy stats and hyperbole. The gender crit community would LOVE to properly debate the issue, like rational people.

And now, the actions of this violent group of thugs is being defended on twitter because apparently, the woman who was attacked had said mean things. Think about that- it's ok to hit a woman if she says mean things.

Who could possibly be OK with that? Really?

wowl · 14/09/2017 10:39

I've just seen that the camera was on a wrist strap, that does make the video make more sense! As with everything they'll claim she somehow started it, their lack of critical thinking skills is beyond infuriating. I would have been there myself but had work training I couldn't get out of Angry

Elendon · 14/09/2017 10:47

The website calling to arms, has pre-printed pages on what to do if arrested. I think they would love to have been arrested, to be honest.

And then presumably want to be locked up in a women's goal.

TheWeeWitch · 14/09/2017 11:26

"What was amazing though was the chance to meet other work and talk in the pub afterwards. There were some great people there and it was lovely to make some new friends and feel part of a community"

So a great success in that regard.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/09/2017 11:28

*I completely agree with other people that this was deliberately organised with violence as the goal. The website calling to arms, has pre-printed pages on what to do if arrested. I think they would love to have been arrested, to be honest.

And, I can easily believe that there were some men, who knew nothing about the trans-ideology, but just wanted to beat up women.

This is a hate filled, misogynistic campaign. These men are not addressing or attacking the other men who are violent towards them. They hate women. Claiming feminists are responsible for the deaths of trans-women is as ludicrous as it is false.

But these men really don't need an excuse. All the fairytales in the world aren't necessary for them to justify their violence. It's an end in itself*

I have not finished the whole thread, but I realy wanted to draw attention tot his because it so echoes what I have been saying here for nearly a year now (can't believe I've been here this long).

This has been my experience with the activist side of the transcult. It is a facade for misogyny. Many activists don't even try to look like women and they are not AGPs - they are simply misogynists. This isn't casual misogyny or latent misogyny. It is blatant woman hatred in a way that is as inherent, blatant and organised as the racism of the supremicists in Charlottesville. This cannot be ignored. They are looking for excuses for violence and to inflict their power over us. They hate us and they love their dicks.

Kimlek · 14/09/2017 11:55

Can we have a thread debating the potential change to the law please and how it may effect women and girls please. I can't find one on here. Needs to have a title to appeal to the masses. I'm clueless about this but don't want to be. I want to understand the opinions & views of 'terfs' and transgender etc.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/09/2017 11:56

The entire room was a sea of mostly middle-aged women. With some younger women. One had turned up on her pushbike, another was wearing a tweed suit

I think it's important to not forget this^ Despite the huge attempts to shut this down, despite the threatened and actual violence this still went ahead successfully.

I also find it interesting that TRAs are only willing to air their views when there is no opposition.

Once this is brought into the light, and once people on general, not just a niche section of society see what is going on trans-activism will lose steam, and there will be a lot of law suits from mutilated people.

Datun · 14/09/2017 12:12

Kimlek

If you type self identification into the advanced search box, you will get dozens of threats discussing this. Here is one.

SeaGreenWaves · 14/09/2017 12:24

If there are videos someone should send to the BBC and the police

BeyondNoone · 14/09/2017 12:38

They've been tweeted to both since yesterday, sea. Nothing but tumbleweeds. :(

PencilsInSpace · 14/09/2017 13:10

Gosh what a night! Shock I was there and saw the attack.

We had a chat with the police after leaving the venue. They said they spent a long time trying to identify the attackers at speakers corner but couldn't and that's why they made no arrests. You can actually see a couple of them running away just at the end of the video before the camera gets covered by a placard. The police said they would be interested in any footage or photos from which they can make an ID and would pursue arrests if possible.

Aside from the aggro and violence it was a great night. Lovely to meet Datun, Empress and Cunt as well as lots of other brilliant women. It was a shame the talks were cut short. I'm really pissed off Stonewall pulled out, especially Bex Stinson who's been blathering for ages on Twitter about creating a dialogue and inviting people to speak face to face.

ArcheryAnnie · 14/09/2017 14:29

"As with everything they'll claim she somehow started it, their lack of critical thinking skills is beyond infuriating."

A certain Mary Ann Penniman, who works for Amnesty, has already done that on twitter, wowl, and said "she taunted and abused trans friends of mine. They were in fear she might turn physically violent".

So clearly mugging and whacking Maria was done in self-defence, amiright? I cannot roll my eyes back far enough for this.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/09/2017 14:32

The self-defence claim might be more plausible if it wasn't preceded by people going 'wanna fuck up terfs!' and followed by 'yay! someone's punched a terf!'
They're not very smart.

BeyondNoone · 14/09/2017 14:32

Yeah, mugging is always a self defence crime 🙄
Amnesty, ffs. 😡

SeaGreenWaves · 14/09/2017 14:36

That's another disgrace. I note that the BBC and other news outlets are happy to post a story about 'research' that proves women have lower sex drives but not a story about actual violence against women.

Elendon · 14/09/2017 14:37

I'm in fear a man might turn physically violent every day of my life.

Elendon · 14/09/2017 14:41

Not my son btw - but when I'm out and about. You never know.

And I wouldn't attend an MRA conference either and accuse them of killing women.

The desire of the transactivists was to provoke and to strike. They also wanted to curb free speech under the spurious ideology that feminism kills trans people. They don't care who they throw under the bus to reach their aim either. Misogyny in action.

yetanotherusernameAgain · 14/09/2017 14:55

I've been poring over the film clip and there's a person dressed in very distinctive clothing who launches themselves at Maria and starts hitting her. Looked at in isolation it could be argued they may have thought Maria was the aggressor and they were trying to 'rescue' the person Maria is restraining but if you look at the whole clip I don't think the violence of the attack is justified.

The person is wearing a black and white patterned hooded top (it looks like snow camouflage so I'll call the person 'Snow Camo') and distinctive leggings. They first appear at 0:31 - from behind the group of TRAs standing on the left they push through and run to the right, arms flailing. The camera pans left so you can't see what happens.

At 0:39 there seems to be an altercation going on - is that Maria with someone trying to take her camera? The camera pans to the right but people's attention is drawn to the scuffle so the camera pans back to the left.

At 0:44 Snow Camo is back in shot but not intervening. It's not clear who is in the scuffle but Snow Camo is on the periphery and not participating. The scuffling continues and Maria and the person she's restraining end up moving out into the open to the right of the crowd. They don't appear to be hitting each other and no one is attempting to separate them, until 1:02 when Snow Camo runs at Maria and hits her, twice I think, and pulls the person away from Maria.

That person runs out of the crowd (left) at 1:06 and Snow Camo runs off left at 1:07. At 1:17 it looks like Snow Camo runs out of the park gate onto the pavement with at least one other person.

If anyone who was filming last night has a good shot of Snow Camo's face I think it would be worthwhile to pass it to the police.

yetanotherusernameAgain · 14/09/2017 15:08

Typical, by the time I finished typing someone has done a better job! Annotated version online, with relevant parts in slow motion and enlarged:

The poster also think they've identified Snow Camo. If it is that person, they've got a GoFundMe page for voice surgery. Only £5 raised so far. I won't be contributing...

BeyondNoone · 14/09/2017 15:11

Weirdly, that person's since deleted pictures (attached to earlier posts) show a coat that looks very snow-camo-ish too...

BeyondNoone · 14/09/2017 15:12

If that is indeed snowcamo, naming their employer on their GFM isn't very clever!
