Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Can we talk about liberal feminism?

JigglyTuff · 26/08/2017 23:20

It's late and I've had wine and so this is probably a bit disjointed. BUT liberal feminism seems like a complete clusterfuck to me. It's all about 'reflecting on things' and apologising. God, so much apologising. I don't think white heterosexual lefty men spend their lives saying 'mea culpa' do they? But white het women seem to be on a mission to self-abase. It's really fucking odd and quite disturbing.

Is anyone else seeing this or do I need to start wearing a tinfoil hat or something?

I asked this question earlier and I will ask it again, why does your subjective view on what is best for women trump my right to choose?

Pansiesandredrosesandmarigolds · 02/09/2017 19:48

Rufus, I've been told to admit I'm not a feminist, that I hate women and that I'm obviously a man. All for not being anti-trans, all on FWR.

QuentinSummers · 02/09/2017 19:53

bertrand are you anti-Nordic model? To me it makes most sense. Criminalise the punters, who are doing the damage. Tackle the demand at it's source.
I'm not sure any measures aimed at criminalizing prostitutes would work and they could cause harm to those women.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 02/09/2017 19:54

Can you link pansies

Not doubting you but people never link

Moussemoose · 02/09/2017 19:56

Thephoneywar

Others might argue otherwise but as far as I'm concerned your right to choose is paramount. It is irrelevant if I agree with you, I will fight and die for your right to choose. Whatever you want to choose.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 02/09/2017 19:58

Sorry pansies

I agree with the man bit, ive seen that loads and ive probably seen the hates women bit as well to be fair

Moussemoose · 02/09/2017 19:59

Is it fair to link to a thread not involved in this discussion? Is it fair to link when someone might have name changed and not be in a position to come back and defend themselves? Is it fair to link if the poster involved does not know they are being linked?

QuentinSummers · 02/09/2017 20:05

pansies I just advanced searched you and had a thorough check and you don't often post here and no-one has ever said the things you've claimed on this board. Are you getting confused with the trans threads elsewhere, like AIBU?
This is exactly what Bert was saying, these kind of accusations come up with apparently no substance, after a while it just gets annoying

QuentinSummers · 02/09/2017 20:07

Oh and also gender crit posters are not "anti trans". I think most of us just don't buy the line "Trans women ARE women". For valid and logical reasons. That's not being anti trans.

Pansiesandredrosesandmarigolds · 02/09/2017 20:14

Nope. Definitely happened - the 'you must be a man' response was after I'd put some daft latin quote in. Apparently only a man would say something so pretentious.

Ereshkigal · 02/09/2017 20:15

Phoney

Why do people's subjective views trump your right to sell your organs?

Pansiesandredrosesandmarigolds · 02/09/2017 20:15

Might have been AIBU to be fair - am on phone so can't search properly.

Ereshkigal · 02/09/2017 20:16

Agree. I just think they're men. I'm not against their existence, that fact just means something.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 02/09/2017 20:26

pansies

As i said i have definitely seen the man thing Grin

And i have definitely seen it on AIBU, that place can be a bear pit

Moussemoose · 02/09/2017 20:29

Ereshkigal

Agree. I just think they're men.

I'd be interested if you could clarify?

Ereshkigal · 02/09/2017 20:31

What exactly requires clarification?

QuentinSummers · 02/09/2017 20:32

Ok I found it. It was AIBU. Not quite as you portrayed either pansies but as it's bad form to cross quote threads I won't.

Nice to see FWR being blamed for behaviour of posters elsewhere on the site Confused

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 02/09/2017 20:33

mousse

Happens all the time on here

Is it fair? Errrm i think linking to a thread isnt unfair

I think saying bertrand said isnt fair ...

But i have also seen on here that rufus said all men should be (insert dreadful quote here ) when

A) it didnt

B) no one can prove it didnt because its not being linked to

So i dont think thats fair either

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 02/09/2017 20:33

Oh lord that took a long time and quentin said it better

Moussemoose · 02/09/2017 20:38

Phoney

Why do people's subjective views trump your right to sell your organs?

I wasn't sure what thia meant ^.

You can do it; I'd rather apologise. I'm sorry if I was wrong and I am not prepared to prove itGrin

Ereshkigal · 02/09/2017 20:45

Phoney asked why people's subjective feelings should affect her right to sell her body. I was pointing out that it's not a given that we get to do whatever we like with our bodies.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 02/09/2017 20:45

I don't disagree there mousse

I tend to try and find the quote first and then think

Fuckit...

Grin
Moussemoose · 02/09/2017 21:31

Ereshkigal

Isn't one of the fundamental principles of feminism that women get to choose what they do with their own bodies? Women can smoke when pregnant if they want and sell their bodies for sex. My approval or agreement is irrelevant I support their right to choose what they do with their body.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 you and the whole thinking first thing...... You could be my motherWink

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 02/09/2017 21:35

mousse

Its sad i know Sad

In real life i just say it

But its too easy for me to type something on here and think

Oh man...now i look a twat

Moussemoose · 02/09/2017 21:39

Rufus

Oi do you want a fight? Are you saying I look like a twat? Come on down if you think you're hard enough!
