Help me put into words why I find this repulsive

Evening all,
Pretty new lurker on the feminism board here. I've seen this on Facebook shared by a few friends and it just seems really grim to me. I want to comment but struggling to find words. I think it's the idea that loving someone whatever means you should have sex even when you don't want to. And the fact he refers to his partner as 'that bitch'.
Any thoughts?

What a pile of crap. Is it real? Does this person exist?

DJBaggySmalls · 27/07/2017 20:50

It sounds made up. How many women do you know would start sexual activity then give a speech like that?

StealthPolarBear · 27/07/2017 20:50

Not to mention it assumes the mam is the financial provider and that the woman gives sex in return.

Crikeyblimey · 27/07/2017 20:50

I have no words. Apart from these (obviously). I'd either not reposed (done feed the animals and all that) or just say 'fuck off you mysoginistic twat'.

Completely made up crap, IMO.

Let's see - sex as transactional, relationships as transactional - all round grim. If any of my female friends shared this I'd think they'd been abducted by aliens and replaced by a Stepford bot. If any of my male friends shared this, they wouldn't be my friends any more.

Pallisers · 27/07/2017 20:55

I'd be re-thinking those friendships

Meeep · 27/07/2017 20:57

It's not really subtly repulsive.
It's quite blatant.

What I don't get is that I don't believe anybody recognises anyone they actually know in these characters. It's just not real at all.
So, why would anybody share it? People are so weird.

TweeBee · 27/07/2017 20:58

Thanks all.
I wasn't going to comment on the original post as its full of people finding it hilarious Hmm
But I thought I would put a comment to my friends who've shared it, who are all women and seemingly thinking it's just so funny. Ugh.

OP posts:
HumphreyCobblers · 27/07/2017 20:58

I would ditch the friends that shared that crap. Or at least hide them from my feed.

BelligerentGardenPixies · 27/07/2017 20:58

Never happened for one.

And two it's distasteful because it is writ large that the writer of this piece of fiction see's sexual relations with a woman as transactional in nature and that women have no real sexual desire of their own but give men sex in order to access men's financial resources.

Meeep · 27/07/2017 21:01

But I can imagine some mouth breather writing it, ok.
But why would other people share it or like it? That's what I don't get.
I suppose because the idea that women shouldn't/don't really want it enjoy sex is so ingrained, and the idea that women are all just gold-diggers.
People hate women basically.

Collidascope · 27/07/2017 21:02

Oh god, it's even got the old chestnut of men thinking with their heads and women with their hearts. Because of course, men are logical and women are emotional. FFS.

GinaFordCortina · 27/07/2017 21:02

Is the girlfriend a prostitute as it seems to imply she is. That's probably just one of the many, many reasons you're upset by it.

GinaFordCortina · 27/07/2017 21:03

Also it makes you fee bad because now you have to question the intelligence of your friends

VestalVirgin · 27/07/2017 21:17

It seems you will need some new friends asap.

That's a level of misogyny that cannot even be explained away as unthinking.

TweeBee · 27/07/2017 21:18

Thanks again for all the opinions.
Sorry I can't work out how to quote you. But, yes, I'm shocked that friends are sharing this, though they're not close friends, more acquaintances whose requests I just accepted to be friendly.
It's just so grubby.

OP posts:
PerspicaciaTick · 27/07/2017 21:21

Imagine being in a relationship with a man who thinks you are a prostitute and calls you a bitch. Vile.

MyRedPepper · 27/07/2017 21:23

All the above us the fact that the thought it would be OK to take revenge on his gf because she didn't want to have sex with him.
Nice...
And the fact it's seems OK for him to call his gf a bitch.

If I could talk to the gf, I would tell her to LTB TBH...

AssassinatedBeauty · 27/07/2017 21:36

I'd just post a comment making it clear how stupid and vile that sort of crap is, and then just unfollow or de-friend anyone who posted it. Life's too short to deal with shit like that popping up in your news feed.

WhoreOfBabyliss · 27/07/2017 21:43

OP that chuffin load of old clart was doing the rounds fifteen years ago. It's not new and it's not original.

NoLoveofMine · 27/07/2017 21:48

It's risible and written by a clearly lamentable and witless individual, as is always the case with this kind of tripe which gets shared around social media. What's tiresome is that this kind of thing does get shared by women; what other group would share so much content which is demeaning themselves? The notion that to find it pitiful someone spent their time concocting it is to be lacking a sense of humour is ridiculous, of course, but is intended to brand anyone who doesn't find it hilarious as such.

I very much understand your frustration, TweeBee. If I just saw this kind of thing as a standalone laughable piece of writing I'd scoff at it but seeing people, not least women, sharing it is irksome.

DeleteOrDecay · 27/07/2017 21:53

I saw this recently too op, I felt the same as you. Didn't like it, but couldn't quite find the right words. This thread has been helpful though.

Makes me so angry that women find this sort of shite funny.
