OK HERE I GO AGAIN! AMERICA IS. A. RAPE. CULTURE. WEATHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT WE ARE A RAPE CULTURE AND MOST PEOPLE DONT RELIZE IT. LADIE, HOW MANY TIMES IN YOUR LIVES HAVE YOU BEEN TOLD TO COVER YOUR BODY SO YOU WONT BE RAPED? OR YOUR SHORTS ARE TO SHORT? OR THAT YOUR NECKLINE PLUNGES TO DEEP? AND HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU BEEN TOLD NOT TO RAPE? WE ARE TEACHING OUR YOUTH THAT IS IS THE VICTIMS FAULT! THIS ISNT OK NOT TO MENTION THE "DRUNK FACTOR" ANYONE ELSE NOTICE HOW BEING DRUNK EXCUSES ANYTHING MEN DO BUT IS THE REASON ANYTHING BAD HAPPENS TO US.(E.G "HE ONLY HITS HER WHEN HE'S DRUNK; HES NOT A BAD GUY." AND " SHE WAS DRUNK WHAT'D YOU THINK WAS GONNA HAPPEN?" THIS IS A VERY REALLY AND VERY FUCKING SCARY YET MORE THAN HALF THE POPULATION IS UNAWARE! JOIN ME FELLOW FEMINISTS AND SPREAD THE WORD.

I've got a nutty brownie recipe using a whole jar of PB, 250g sugar, 250g chocolate, macadamia nuts and a few other bits.

Nutty, I tell you. Absolutely nutty.

Nigella gingerbread with lemon icing?

PhoenixJasmine · 30/03/2017 08:27

pickleme is that a real (nuttySmile) recipe because it sounds AWESOME and like something I could probably eat without exploding damn food intolerances

The allotment thread have been talking about parsnip cakes, along the lines of beetroot and courgette cakes. I'm intrigued and a little repulsed at the same time.

ProcrastinatingSquid2 · 30/03/2017 08:28

Who needs rape culture when you can have cake culture?

Raisins, that looks divine.

MrsDoylesTeabags · 30/03/2017 08:30

Some really important and thought provoking points made here. A whole jar of PB pickle? I must give that a try

poorbuthappy · 30/03/2017 08:33

IS it too early for cake?

picklemepopcorn · 30/03/2017 08:37

IT really is real, but the recipe went in the bin because, you know, 250g x3 of the most deadly foods in the cupboard...

I have had chocolate cake made with beetroot or corguette, which was lovely. Think of the texture of carrot cake.
I've also had a corguette cake which was vile. Think cold and damp in the mouth. CAKE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THAT!

QuentinSummers · 30/03/2017 08:43

Chocolate courgette cake is lovely!

M0stlyBowlingHedgehog · 30/03/2017 08:46

Ooh, cake controversy. I'm with pickle, I'm afraid - beetroot chocolate cake is lovely, courgette chocolate cake just disintegrates into rather flavourless crumbs.

ChocChocPorridge · 30/03/2017 08:52

I've always been intrigued by potato cake (as in the sweet kind, not the griddle kind) - by all accounts it's delicious, and I've had puddings with potato before, so I can see it might work.

I don't hate the idea of beetroot cake, but the mess from the beetroot, and the risk of that dirt taste which beetroot things often have means that I won't be sinking any effort into making one myself.

QuentinSummers · 30/03/2017 08:54

M0stly I've pm'd you

Renaissance2017 · 30/03/2017 08:54

As a man I don't feel qualified to comment on things in feminism, but can I just say the Pimms cake is awesome! Pain in the bum to do but worth it!

PhoenixJasmine · 30/03/2017 09:02

It's ok renaissance, you can be a feminist cake ally.

WobblyLegs5 · 30/03/2017 09:03

Corgette & choc & ginger muffins-lovely
Sweet pot & cinimon breakfast muffins-even better cause I can eat them for breakfaSt
Avacado & chocolate brownie-nice, but not as nice as the sugary stuff-should have disclaimer that I'm not a brownie fan
Beatroot, carrot & coconut cake-amazingly moreish especially as I don't like coconut normally
Banana & parsnip bread-by far my favourite, so so delicious

Chance of getting my kids to consume veg this way, big fat zero, so I will go back to buying cream cakes : )

Rachiecakes · 30/03/2017 09:23

Rape culture debate, to discussing courgette cake... what a turn around for a thread!

Oooh, I wondered why this thread was filling up so quickly.

I have to take a strong issue with this. I feel vehemently about my rights on the subject. I will not be silenced. I owe it to myself and women everywhere to speak out when faced with this kind of nonsense. If we don't try and counter these appalling opinions, we only have ourselves to blame.

The words COURGETTE and CAKE should never, under any circumstances, be used in the same sentence.

ATailofTwoKitties · 30/03/2017 09:49

Nonsense. Courgette cake needs lemon and lime. Carrot cake needs orange juice.

Chocolate goes in beetroot cake.

PoochSmooch · 30/03/2017 11:23

The cake gap is real - the gap between a courgette cake and an actual edible tasty cake is REAL, people!

DJBaggySmalls · 30/03/2017 11:30

Ohmylurd
Rape crisis centres counsel women and support them through the reporting process. They know the stats.
They liaise with govt, police and FBI, offering advice, training and stats.
Sorry to piss on your bonfire, but Govt and the judiciary accept Rape Crisis as a legit organisation.

PoochSmooch · 30/03/2017 11:38

I've noticed some other gaps, too!

Gap between ohmylurd and an understanding of what the phrase "rape culture" means.

Gap between southall and an understanding of feminism that doesn't involve using women's issues to take cheap shots at immigrants.

Gap between the OP and this thread?

All in existence. Just like the wage gap Grin

SheilaFentiman · 30/03/2017 13:13

"The cake gap is real - the gap between a courgette cake and an actual edible tasty cake is REAL, people!"

Snort!

SheilaFentiman · 30/03/2017 13:13

That's a lot of buttercream on the pimms cake, is it nice without?

picklemepopcorn · 30/03/2017 14:08

The gap between two sponges must be filled with cream and fresh fruit. None of this butter cream nonsense.
I think there are some gaps in some PP's knowledge, too. And possibly some gaps between their ears.

Not all gaps are best filled with Buttercream.
