reading some of this awful EF shit it does feel more and more like a parody. some anti-feminist/swf trolling of the kind that 4chan and places do?

i mean it's carefully crafted and very slick but it just pushes over into the ridiculous.

there's a couple of donald trump twitter parody accounts and you just can't tell the difference until it goes a tiny bit too far. it strikes me as like them.

yeah i know i'm just clutching at straws but doesn't it all feel like someone started it as a joke and then people took it seriously so they just kept going to see how far they could push the nonsense and haven't found the outer limit yet?

Yes, exactly. It occurred to me that even when all this crap has been brought into the open and the lunacy has stopped, feminism and to some extent other social justice movements will be fucked by association (even where association is just assumed). How badly will depend on how far it gets before that happens.

I really hope that there's a backlash from the next generation against Generation Snowflake and their pathetic, self centred drivel and we see a generation of young people who are proactive, outward focused and committed to really fixing the world's problems rather than angsting on social media about hurt feelz and whether they identify as a demiboi multigender fuckwit whose preferred pronouns are lalawotsit/wotsette.

I couldn't understand that Slate article at all, it was so full of newspeak, double think and bullshit. I gave up about half way. I did however get as far as her reference to "transmasculine", which wiki via Google tells me is transsexual. I thought that wasn't allowed any more, what with sex being fluid and gender being binary?

In the US you have to have a yearly pelvic examination to get the pill. No reason, probably just because they can. Given the offence rate of doctors, I bet there's a fair whack of women who've been sexually assaulted at the same time too. Of course, coerced vaginal exams I would personally put over the line of assault too.

Can you imagine doing that to blokes? Oh, you want to get Viagra? Right, just take your clothes off and lie down here for the compulsory rectal examination.

It may be helpful to remember that what we see on social media is a small self-selected group, not necessarily representative of their generation.

That is true Errol, not all of that generation are like that. You are right.

I suspect Sean the woman has very, very few friends in real life!

Things have reached a pretty pass indeed when we are being told by men who say they are women, men who don't even pretend to be women, and silly, impressionable young women with little life experience that we are not proper feminists. Feminism has been well and truly hijacked by men and the gullible wide eyed women who have been brainwashed by the tripe they spout.

It makes me feel like giving up sometimes, as we have to accept now that as feminists we are fighting a war on two fronts. Against the old enemy - the conservative right who never wanted us to have any rights in the first place - and the new enemy, the men who say they are women who have infiltrated our movement and will bring it down for good if we let them.

We just have to keep shouting about the issues that matter and shouting loud enough to drown out the whines of transphobia and bigotry so that noone can hear them any longer. Giving up isn't an option, although it is so tempting at times.
