Brilliant video reponse to the horrible "lesbians need to learn to love dick" argument

Just saw this video by Magdalen Berns on twitter, answering all the bollocks about lesbians needing to learn to want to date transwomen, and if they don't get over their aversion to dick then they are totally just like racists. (Spoiler alert: Magdalen Berns doesn't think so.) It really cheered me up, not just with the excellent arguments, but with the deadpan attitude.

With thanks and a hat-tip to Miranda Yardley for linking to it!

Maisypops, a transwoman's surgically constructed neovagina might, at a push, work for some men, in that it's basically a fuck hole. Because it is created where the penis was, a neovagina starts noticeably closer up towards the groin.

Many men wouldn't be happy with a neovagina. Google if you dare.. It's not for the squeamish. It's not very like a real one and, according to researchers, it has a foul smell. But you're a lesbian and want to bury your face in your partner's vulva then it wouldn't work at all. As a lot of men like to do the same I can't imagine they would be very happy either.

The accounts I've read of actually having a neovagina are very sad. You have to dilate them or the wound just heals up. Over time they tend to lose depth and, depending on the technique used, they develop hair balls deep inside which have to be extracted. After some years they often become too small for penetration.

The sky high suicide rate 10 years post op of men who have had this procedure is why the leading American hospital offering the operation stopped doing them.

I get there are issues with it. Personally I couldnt get involed with a trans person pre or post op.
Only saying I could see how somebody might view pre and post op differently. I can also see how someone who has had all their surgery to 'become a female' (in their eyes) is different to someone who dresses the part but still had a penis.
It wouldnt affect me at all because i dont think I'd ever be interested. And I'm totally up for people saying thry wouldnt be intetested either. Who you want to sleep with is personal choice.

venusinscorpio · 14/02/2017 13:39

It is personal choice on an individual level, yes. But in all this obfuscation of what constitutes a woman it should be considered reasonable to rule out men entirely, because you don't find men attractive and transwomen are biological men. People gay or straight should never be shamed for this.

NotYoda · 14/02/2017 13:45

I love her deadpan delivery. Excellent.

NotYoda · 14/02/2017 13:48

Vestal

"The transwacktivists are no different from traditional patriarchy, it is just that they would prefer to look like the victim - they don't want to have to violently rape lesbians; that would make them look bad; they want the lesbians to essentially rape themselves by "consenting" to being fucked with a dick, due to the social pressure"

That made me do a sharp intake of breath. Yes.

shins · 14/02/2017 14:07

NotYoda, I love the contrast between her concise, razor-sharp arguments and her London stoner style delivery...she reminds me of the drug dealer in Withnail and I .."your haiw awe youw aewials"..Grin

NotYoda · 14/02/2017 14:10

Yes, that's it, shins!

GoldenGlobe · 14/02/2017 14:12

Great video. Thanks for the link.

Glitteryunicorn · 15/02/2017 07:38

That clipping from the Trans rights report is scary why would you want to have sex with someone who didn't want to disclose that they're Trans? Confused

Surely if you are close enough to someone to want to have sex with them you'd want to disclose that small fact?!

Or am I coming at this with my female no rapey brain and not understanding it correctly?!

The more I read on this stuff the scarier it gets!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 15/02/2017 08:51

I would definitely call it scary, Glittery.

But you're a lesbian and want to bury your face in your partner's vulva then it wouldn't work at all.

Yep. This. Exactly. Transactivists seem to be obsessed with the idea that it's the presence or otherwise of penis that's the issue. It's not. It's the absence of vulva.

MercyMyJewels · 15/02/2017 11:13

Here's her next one.

She is just brilliant, logical, eloquent, funny. I love her

beetlingaround · 15/02/2017 12:41

I love her anger and exasperation. The best one is where she takes down the MTT from the Stonewall website. Her disdain is awesome. Go Magdalen! Hope she knows she has support on Mumsnet.

Datun · 15/02/2017 12:43

It's heartening in one so young that she has grasped not only what it's like to be a woman/lesbian in this day and age, but also what it has been like for women over the last 50 to 100 years.

She realises, beyond doubt, that hard won rights are very fragile.

If you can no longer define the word woman to not include men, and women are no longer legally able to gather without the presence of a man, if he so wishes, the whole edifice is about to tumble.

NotYoda · 15/02/2017 13:11

Keep going Magdelen.

Freddorika · 15/02/2017 13:26

Very good video

venusinscorpio · 15/02/2017 15:41

She is awesome. I hate the idea that because these "activists" are more interested in erasing women and invading their spaces than equality, they will challenge any attempt to organise as actual biological women who are a clearly relevant social group as the reproductive class, even if we call ourselves XXers, or whatever.
