So, Muscato has been all over the media the past week after having a Twitter rant at Trump. Muscato was praised for being a vocal female activist...

All MSM is reporting this story in the same way, ignoring the elephant in the room...

Sorry all, it's the pedant in me posting.

"You think intercourse is a private act; it's not, it's a social act. Men are sexually predatory in life; and women are sexually manipulative. When two individuals come together and leave their gender outside the bedroom door, then they make love."

Qwerty, your above analysis of this quote as being contradictory is a misreading. And yet you say you have read the book it is from several times. I'd be a willing participant on a thread about Dworkin but not if we waste loads of time and energy reclarifying what she has written.

qwerty232 · 15/01/2017 21:10

Sometimes, men act like misogynistic, sexist, self entitled, arrogant, aggressive, violent bastards.

Yep. I guess. But would you not give a fuck why people are..say..racist? Or is just enough to know that they're racist and work round that as best you can?

qwerty232 · 15/01/2017 21:10

Can you explain why it is misleading Beach? I'd genuinely be interested to know.

Datun · 15/01/2017 21:13

Q

If I was black and someone was kicking my head in, no my priority would not be asking why.

Datun · 15/01/2017 21:15

Q

This is feminist chat. Go onto the sun board feminist theory.

Datun · 15/01/2017 21:15

*sub

Beachcomber · 15/01/2017 21:16

I posted that it is a misreading not that it is misleading

Oh the irony.

I just checked, Women Hating was published in 1974. Transgenderism as we know it today didn't exist then.

qwerty232 · 15/01/2017 21:17

Yes, but if you were debating racism in the context of a discussion? And as far as I can see there are multiple debates on here about the nature of gender identity and the intellectual premises of feminism.

I have been a victim of several forms of extreme violence, btw. I know what the world is like.

Datun · 15/01/2017 21:19

Yes, but if you were debating racism in the context of a discussion?

Yeah, but we're not.

qwerty232 · 15/01/2017 21:19

Theres is another thread which has been raging on for days about sexual consent.

qwerty232 · 15/01/2017 21:20

But we're discussing issues surrounding feminism aren't we?

DeviTheGaelet · 15/01/2017 21:22

Muscato is blatantly trolling to poke fun at the trans activist cult
I don't think Danielle is actually. They seem like quite a mixed up individual.

Xenophile · 15/01/2017 21:24

No. On this thread, we're discussing a particular person and their quasi-religious beliefs around gender and how that impacts on women.

qwerty232 · 15/01/2017 21:26

Right. With respect, does that mean we all adhere to a particular line on this topic?

DeviTheGaelet · 15/01/2017 21:27

This is what you get for $100 a month:

Wow! You're an official Sponsor of my activism work, and I am thrilled and grateful for your support. You get a 1-on-1 chat session with me monthly to talk about whatever you want! (Or, if we are in the same town for a conference or similar, I'll take you out to dinner!). You'll also receive a one-time gift of a free #RESIST t-shirt with free shipping to the US.

Bargain! Grin
The world is totally crazy that someone is seriously entitled enough to think anyone would pay $100 a month to talk politics with them. Odd.

Beachcomber · 15/01/2017 21:27

And qwerty you claim to be genuinely interested in our responses but apparently not actually arsed to read them properly.

I would suggest that an element of the above is male socialization and another element is a 6th firm debating club desire to show us up to be wrong. Both are jarring.

I, like others, would like to get back to the thread topic now so would appreciate it if you refrained from asking me any more irrelevant questions. The "start thread" button is over there >

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 15/01/2017 21:27

Ffs, qwerty. Look at yourself. We ask you to stop derailing and you fire off a volley. 3 posts in 9 minutes. Can you not put a zip in it?

Twogoats · 15/01/2017 21:28

Danielle recently started hormone therapy. They posted it on Twitter the other day. It will be interesting to see how she turns out...

Beachcomber · 15/01/2017 21:40

Just briefly going back to Atheism for a second - I think many of us feel that we do need to stand up and say 'no' to the idea that one needs religion, or at least belief in a higher power to have morals. I also would rather religion was opt in, rather than opt out.

Good point Albadross.

CharlieSierra · 15/01/2017 22:03

Muscato is blatantly trolling to poke fun at the trans activist cult

I don't think so either, they take themselves far too seriously for that.

HelenDenver · 15/01/2017 22:47

I nipped off to watch Sherlock.

I see that not much has changed...

HelenDenver · 15/01/2017 22:48

Agree, CharlieS!

CharlieSierra · 15/01/2017 23:00

Was trying to get the discussion back on track....

HelenDenver · 15/01/2017 23:00

Well done!
