Hey,
Did anyone hear Jenni Murray on woman's hour today, her guest was India Willoughby. India is trans and was advocating that it was correct for the Dorchester to dictate that their female staff shave their legs.

India was very spiked in her conversation and implied Jenni was transphobic because the panalists didn't agree.

Again, a woman being called transphobic because they didn't agree with a transwoman's opinion.

Thank you Jenni for standing up for women!

OP posts:
PoldarksBreeches · 04/12/2016 10:24

A) no, a trans woman is not a woman
B) yes, trans women are statistically as likely to rape as any other male
C) straw man argument

Amazing that you can say 'raping is done by rapists not men' with a straight face TBH.

MorrisZapp · 04/12/2016 10:29

Under current U.K. Law, women cannot be rapists. The definition of rape includes a penis.

ageingrunner · 04/12/2016 10:29

So you've not been able to find links to the many cases of women assaulting other women with shampoo bottles then, Diem? Confused

BakeOffBiscuits · 04/12/2016 10:32

"The raping is done by rapists, in my experience. Not penises. Not men"

Yes and 98% of those rapists are male, therefore rapist= male (the 98% of the time). And as the vast, vast majority of men have a penis, then rapes are carried out by penis.

It really is that simple.

MissiAmphetamine · 04/12/2016 10:35

diem
Therefore as sexual offenders are almost always going to be male, it makes sense not to allow males into spaces where females may be particularly vulnerable. Whether they believe themselves a woman, or have lost their penis in a tragic accident, or are afraid the other males will pick on them for some reason. Because while not all males are rapists (statistically it's between 1/8 and 1/16,) almost all rapists are male. See the tables here: www.gov.uk/government/statistics/an-overview-of-sexual-offending-in-england-and-wales
(And I'm fairly certain the 'female' stats are skewed by transgender males being recorded as female, too.)
Also, what is a woman in your opinion, if the definition "adult human female" isn't it? Genuinely curious.

MissiAmphetamine · 04/12/2016 10:37

Morris
"Under current U.K. Law, women cannot be rapists. The definition of rape includes a penis."
Interesting! So the data in the table I've linked is skewed, as it shows females in remand or jailed for rape. That's horrendous, honestly.

Datun · 04/12/2016 10:39

Diem

Transwomen retain exactly the same pattern of male violence as men. If the legislation goes ahead, they would have the legitimate access to women and children everywhere. I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions.

"Rape is a statutory offence in England and Wales. According to the law, a rape can only be committed by a male as the penetration can only be done with his penis. If a victim is forcefully penetrated with an object, this is classed as "Sexual Assault by Penetration"."

PoldarksBreeches · 04/12/2016 10:41

Women who are jailed for rape are either women who participated in rape by a man or trans women who used their own penis

Datun · 04/12/2016 10:42

A woman convicted of rape, is by definition a man.

ChocChocPorridge · 04/12/2016 10:42

The raping is done by rapists, in my experience. Not penises. Not men.

I'll include sexual assault (since otherwise, in UK law, you're entirely wrong there), since that's what you mean - but go to the ONS. Rape is overwhelmingly performed by men, with their penises. Rapists are overwhelmingly men. To say anything else is ridiculous.

But what that has got to do with a transwoman is neither here nor there, unless you are saying

a) a tw is not a woman because her genitalia may not be perfectly aligned (in which case who made you god???)

Not God, but humans are a sexually dimorphic mammalian species. We have males who have penises (and other male sex characteristics), and females who have vaginas (and other female characteristics). That's how human biology works. A transwoman is not a woman because a transwoman is male, and women are adult, human, females. You can try to redefine the word if you like, and have had some success, but round here we stick to the dictionary definition.

b) transwomen are known to be statistically highly likely to rape

Not 'very high' just higher than women - what with them being male, and, in many cases, still in possession of the equipment. Statistics show us that this is true.

c) India looks like she wants to use a foreign object inserted into Jenni's orifices against her will (for those who are ignorant about what rape is!!!)

No-one said that, what a strange leap to make! I think you might need to step away from the keyboard and calm down.

d) all penises indicate potential to rape, in which case, you know absolutely f all about penises and probably should get out more.

Well, technically, yes, they do - in practise, most men don't rape, but in theory they are all equipped for the purpose (and as you mentioned, don't even have to use it if we include sexual assault) - I'm not sure the point you're trying to make here.

What I would mention is that women, are on average smaller than men. I could probably fight off my sisters, but wouldn't stand a chance against my brother or male partner (luckily, I can't imagine a situation where that would need to be tested). This is the secondary reason to be more scared of sexual assault from a transwoman than a woman.

MissiAmphetamine · 04/12/2016 10:46

Oh! And you want to look at Table 6.1 - here's a screenshot of the relevant portion.
So are all those female stats for rape, actually transgender males, then? Confused

"The raping is done by rapists, in my experience. Not penises. Not men"

That has to be the biggest load of gas lighting shite that I have ever read. You should be ashamed of yourself.

MorrisZapp · 04/12/2016 10:53

Absolutely. In the statistically minute chance a woman was to try to sexually assault me, I'd have a very good chance of defending myself. It would probably be a reasonably 'fair fight'. There is so little threat that I have never given it a thought in my entire life.

PurpleSproutin · 04/12/2016 10:56

I was immediately blocked by India Willoughby just after leaving this comment on their twitter page
" Every woman shud hav a hang up abt havin hairy legs
how else can companies sell their hair removing products?"
Maybe India is receiving some sort royalties for promoting their products via pernicious advertising?
One never knows these days but i certainly hit a chord of some sort that India didn't like! : ) Hmm

YetAnotherSpartacus · 04/12/2016 10:56

Biscuit
Datun · 04/12/2016 10:57

"Interestingly, pre -operative male transgenders can commit the offence because they are still legally male, whereas post-operative female transgenders cannot commit the offence because they are still legally female."

"A woman can legally rape a man however if she acts as an accomplice. So if X (a woman) assists Y (a man) to put his penis into Z’s mouth against her will, then X is as guilty of rape as Y is."

So those stats are probably correct as if it was a transwoman with a penis they would be 'male' and if without one it wouldn't be rape.

BeyondTheHarpy · 04/12/2016 10:58

"d) all penises indicate potential to rape, in which case, you know absolutely f all about penises and probably should get out more."

Potential
"The possibility of something happening or of someone doing something in the future"

Having a penis makes it possible to be a rapist, should one wake up one morning and think it sounds like a fun activity. Your opinion on the word potential suggests you know absolutely fuck all and should probably get out more :)

MissiAmphetamine · 04/12/2016 11:00

In my experience, rapists are definitely men. What does diem think they are? Aliens?? Honestly, it's just eyerollingly ridiculous.

MissiAmphetamine · 04/12/2016 11:02

That's good to know - thanks, Datun!

Diemfdie · 04/12/2016 11:13

Is this why our daughters need to wear head to toe covering and not be allowed out alone? They're so small, they have the equipment to be shagged by everything in sight, they need protecting and all men are potential rapists.

I wasn't expecting Saudi to be the model, but if it makes sense...

QueenLaBeefah · 04/12/2016 11:15

Bit early to be on the sherry Diem. I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 04/12/2016 11:17

Hell no. They need instruction in self-defence and the right to bear arms with live ammunition (DNA seeking bullets that hone on on XY chromosomes). That was a joke. They also need women only spaces where appropriate and they need laws to protect them. That wasn't a joke.

The comment on the Mail site was simply along the lines of 'I don't care'.

Datun · 04/12/2016 11:21

Diemfdie

I honestly don't know what your point is. 90% of sexual crimes are committed by men. Legislation is being put in place to allow any man who identifies as trans or just says they do, access to women and girls everywhere.

Do you really think that no predator in that 98% will exploit this! What about voyeurism or indecent exposure? Those crimes simply cease to exist.

Datun · 04/12/2016 11:23

Diem

Unless you can construct any kind of decent argument, there is little point in engaging with you. Every time someone points out the flaws in your argument and links to stats, you go to something else!
