I'm on the side of the salon. They could have done serious harm as they are untrained in male intimate waxing so to go ahead would be negligent.
I'm also interested in how if this was made into law then the women would be forced to intimately treat male genitals which they may not feel comfortable in doing let alone be able to safely and competently without costly training.
I'm a beauty therapist and hope to open a home salon at some point. Due to it being in my home I'd like to have it as a female only salon. I do worry about how laws like this could impact on me.

With the benefit of hindsight if they had said "we do not offer waxing on penises and testicles" there is nothing this person could have complained about.

The salon is not "misgendering" the body parts it doesn't want to touch.

Trans ideology moves at a rapid rate though lass. This time next year I imagine a penis will have become a type of vagina if the person it's attached to feels female and you won't be allowed to compare it to male penises in any way at all.

We do not offer waxing on body parts which are or were capable of producing and emitting sperm.

Or a picture "if you have one of these , we don't wax them"

There will be nearby salons that offer the specialist back, sack and crack waxing male bodied people need if they wish to have the male equivalent of a brazilian wax.

What this MtT is upset about is that their beliefs that they are a lady weren't validated by this salon. It's tough when someone is brought up hard against reality when they have been happy in their delusions.

There are plenty of salons that offer both male and female waxing.
Karen must have anticipated this happening. It's pretty obvious that waxing a scrotum is completely different to waxing a vulva.

I've never had, and have no intention of having, a wax but if I were in Australia I would book one at this salon and give them a 5 star review.

Even though they stated when booking that they were transgender, I don't blame the salon for presuming this meant that the person was no longer in possession of a penis. What kind of person books themselves in for a wax that specifies it entails removal of hair from the vulva when they have a penis and testicles? A delusional one. Or one that was planning on crying discrimination when they were refused

the technician should counter sue for indecent exposure, which is essentially what happened here

So much wrong with this... But I'd just like to say that from a personal experience as a woman I've had the same! I once went to a wax salon in Brazil with a friend just off copacabana beach and the therapist took one look at me and shouted 'muito pelo' (which roughly translates as oh my god run for the hills sooooo much hair! I might have embellished that to account for her look of horror that accompanied the statement!) so as for Karen's comment about feeling ugly, well tough, that's on you love. I certainly didn't feel the need to sue for settlement based on my experience! I'm Irish by the way so potato picking genes mean I'm rather hirsute

Wemustsurely - that's an interesting point about indecent exposure. I'd be interested to know if that would fly. If you're expecting a vulva and get a penis, does it count? Or is the fact that it's a 'woman's penis' make the point invalid.

The Sexual Offences Act 2003 which applies to England and Wales says aperson who displays "his" genitals commits an offence.The equivalent Scottish statute (Sexual Offences (S) Act 2009) refers to "a person's genitals"

You would have to look at the wording of the Australian statute, although tbh I doubt the defence that Karen isn't a man would wash even under the English Act.

In relation to rape the English Act also refers to "his penis" whereas the Scottish one refers to "person A's penis". However a trans woman was recently convicted of rape in England (Davina something or other)

Lass, I agree with you, but was more kind of wondering how this will play out with the trans mantra that a trans penis is 'female'. Iyswim.

As in: the waxer was expecting to be exposed to 'female genitalia' and according to the new rules, that penis was 'female genitalia' do where's the harm.

they can say it all they want but the idea that a penis can be a female organ is not going to catch on. The law protects their gender identity, it doesn't say anything about their genitals. Honestly I don't think much thought was given to possible situations like this. Most people seem to presume that the majority of trans people have 'bottom surgery' but the opposite is true.

I think that the staff member could have reasonably expected not to be confronted with a penis considering this person booked themselves in for a wax to remove hair from a vulva. It seems creepy to me the way this person withheld that pretty vital information until they exposed themselves

I agree. I especially agree that not much thought at all has been given to any of the ramifications of the 'female penis' idea.
