Bluewater and Breitling- remove your offensive display now

Bluewater and Breitling watches think it is acceptable to have an overtly sexualised model of a woman with exaggerated nipples, astride a bomb, with her full gusset revealed...on display at a family shopping venue- to sell watches. This has no place in 2016. Please sign and share the petition to have it removed. The petition is on change.org. I guess just search for Bluewater or Breitling.

I can't find a link to a petition. That is awful.

Elledouble · 25/02/2016 09:18

That's pretty fucking gross. Can't find a petition though.

PosieReturningParker · 25/02/2016 09:19

Wtaf?

CultureSucksDownWords · 25/02/2016 09:20

I've signed the petition. Just went to change.org and searched for Breitling, it was the first one that came up in the search.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 25/02/2016 14:32

Link. The interest in it is underwhelming.

Yuck.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 25/02/2016 17:06

Signed.

I was no.53! Astonishing.

CocktailQueen · 26/02/2016 08:56

Signed!

PreemptiveSalvageEngineer · 26/02/2016 09:44

This is probably not the worst thing about it, but she isn't even wearing a watch? What is her function?

duckyneedsaclean · 26/02/2016 09:45

Ugh gross.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 26/02/2016 22:15

There is another thread about this, some people explaining historical reasons for this image.

This window display is still inappropriate in a family shopping centre.

I'm amazed more people haven't signed the petition.

naturenutsmum1 · 27/02/2016 18:53

Just signed.

Homeriliad · 27/02/2016 19:48

I can't believe a full gusset is on display... a full gusset!

partialderivative · 28/02/2016 17:05

I really would like to know what the 'historical reasons' for this image are.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 28/02/2016 17:42

There are historical reasons. The noses of bomber planes were sometimes decorated with "bombshell" pictures of ostentatiously curvey women. The pictures of them I have seen did not however have nipples like that or gussets on display.

In any case that was then and this is now.

There many heroes of aviation, men and women, who could have been featured in a window display along with photographs of the terrifyingly insubstantial planes they flew at enormous risk to their lives

Suggestions have been made on the other thread. Mine would be the chap in the link below. You could have had a montage of flying heroes and aviation pioneers.

I thought it was a blow up doll st first glance. Ugh.

SlowFJH · 05/03/2016 07:59

A stylised plastic statue of a historic cartoon image of a clothed female form with no nudity depicted at all.

Yes!

This is worth getting worked about.

BarefootAcrossHotLegoPieces · 05/03/2016 08:19

A sexualised doll with erect nipples, spread legs and knickers on display, I think you meant to type, Slow.

SlowFJH · 05/03/2016 08:28

They're not real nipples or knickers Barefoot....Just bits of plastic.

BarefootAcrossHotLegoPieces · 05/03/2016 08:32

i believe the phrase is, " no shit, Sherlock"

SlowFJH · 05/03/2016 08:34

Temper

BarefootAcrossHotLegoPieces · 05/03/2016 08:50

Nope, sarcasm.

Turbinaria · 05/03/2016 08:56

If ever an example that sex sells - and this shop sells watches, mad.

As a consumer if you are aware that you're being manipulated to that degree surely it puts you off??

SlowFJH · 05/03/2016 09:00

The first comment on the petition (which has the most likes says it all)...The petition is absurd. The Stephen Fry quote re "I'm offended.." is exactly right.
