Not all Romans

AskBasil · 20/08/2015 08:20

The Romans built the first roads in Britain.

But not all Romans

The Vikings built ships which sailed as far as America.

Not all Vikings.

Rabbits are known for reproducing really quickly.

Not all Rabbits.

Etc. etc. I think I will add "not all" whenever anyone refers to anything ever, until people stop saying Not All Men as a first response to a class analysis of men's behaviour.

Doreen,

Why ask a question which has already been answered twice? A little pointless, no?

'As I said, it was crass and I would never say it now.' My post 21:02

And there is a previous one in my original apology which I can again requote if you really failed to read both of them.

That is why I wondered what you were asking?

But, hey, great bold letters!

FloraFox · 20/08/2015 21:49

No fucks given here, Larry.

You should be ashamed of what you said and give a proper apology, not the feeble, dissembling efforts you've posted. Do you teach your pupils this "I'm sorry if you're offended" style of apology.

YonicScrewdriver · 20/08/2015 21:49

Larry

You may have noticed the wee hacking palaver that's been going on. The hacker is being referred to as Jeffrey so plenty of users have changes their names to 'FuckOffJeff' and that ilk.

HTH.

larrygrylls · 20/08/2015 21:50

Flora,

No fucks given over your opinion here either. Are you as rude in your professional life as you are on here? Do you frequently use phrases such as 'no fucks given here' to colleagues and clients?

How do they respond to it?

larrygrylls · 20/08/2015 21:52

Yonic,

So a female hacker named Fiona could be referred to as FlabbyFanjoFi or a fat hacker as GutbucketGertha?

Not sure it really washes.

HTH

Here you go, larry, re the Jeffrey point:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2452593-Im-not-actually-Jeffrey-because?

Flora isn't at work, so what's the point of your post? I'm assuming you also post things on MN that you wouldn't say in front of your pupils. I bloody hope so, anyway, for their sake.

YonicScrewdriver · 20/08/2015 21:57

Larry

Are you on pheads or pnet taking issue with their descriptions of women? Are you on twitter shouting down men describing women as 'too ugly to rape' etc? Or are you just saving your criticism for women?

larrygrylls · 20/08/2015 21:57

Buffy,

The voice of reason. I think you are actually right, here. I have said enough and am responding less than calmly to the provocations.

This was actually quite a nice and interesting thread, earlier.

I am off. However, if people decide to celebrate this with a series of rude personal attacks on me, they will firstly be reported and, secondly, yes, I do reserve the right to respond.

So, if you want me to be off and stay off (which I am sure is what you will claim, although I think in reality a lot of posters love a target), stop the personal attacks on me.

JeffhasAMicroPenis · 20/08/2015 21:58

Yes it's the same. Men around the world are being held back by their micropenises. It must hurt. Micropenisarchy

larrygrylls · 20/08/2015 21:58

'Flora isn't at work, so what's the point of your post? I'm assuming you also post things on MN that you wouldn't say in front of your pupils. I bloody hope so, anyway, for their sake.'

Brilliant! You got the point of my post. I am not at work either so stop insinuating that what I post here in the heat of the moment has anything to do with my professional life.

DoreenLethal · 20/08/2015 21:59

That is why I wondered what you were asking?

As mentioned on the previous thread, I had a job in the construction industry as an engineer in which I got that sort of comment day in, day out. I just wondered if you would have said it to a student. Because you have no idea the impact of that sort of comment on a person's self esteem. If that is the sort of comment that comes to you when a female makes a comment about science, I just wondered if it had flown off your tongue in the past to a student. That's why I asked.

YonicScrewdriver · 20/08/2015 22:01

If you can't see the difference between 'I give zero fucks' and using the phrase 'female science' as an insult, then you are very hard of thinking.

ChristineDePisan · 20/08/2015 22:01

Hmmm, I think that the "some Vikings built some boats and some travelled to America*" is probably right - the noun "Viking" is a modern construct, but is generally accepted as a term that includes the Norse explorers who went further north than most of the others. Though to make it more accurate still we should substitute "Vinland" for "America".

But given that the Norman king, William, led the invasion of England and represented all Normans, I think it's correct to say that "the Normans invaded England" without needing the qualifier "some".

"I still think digging out 6 year old posts to illustrate someone's perspective is a bit below the belt."

OMG it was you who insisted she go and dig it out! And now you're complaining she did.

Unbelievable. But not all belts.

'Men around the world are being held back by their micropenises.'

Actually, they are. I saw a programme about micropenises, and men with them do tend to live pretty miserable lives. Don't underestimate the pain of a micropenis! (and now I know what you are all thinking).

'I suppose it would be an interesting experiment to namechange and post a bit the same as usual and see if you got a different reaction / if after a while you started to get the same reactions / that sort of thing.'

I was thinking just that myself. I think it may be time for a name change.

JeffhasAMicroPenis · 20/08/2015 22:15

When you looked for your last job at what point in the interview process did the interviewer question if you had a micropenis?

Did they ask you when you applied for Cambridge?

Other than some women might not want to fuck you I'm struggling to see how it would affect your entire life and livelihood to the same degree having a vagina would.

JeffhasAMicroPenis · 20/08/2015 22:16

I was thinking just that myself. I think it may be time for a name change.

You could call your self LarryTheWonderFeminist and everyone would still think you were full of crap. It's not your name that's the problem.

YonicScrewdriver · 20/08/2015 22:18

"Micropenis science", perhaps?

larrygrylls · 20/08/2015 22:19

Jeff,

It is all about self confidence. Why do you think so many men with normal penises are doing bizarre and painful things to increase their length? Why devote so much time to something so meaningless?

It is not just sex, by the way, it is also urination. They cannot go to a normal urinal. And I am sure you will say but nor can you. However, your mates don't look at you askance when you go into a cubicle.

I actually watched the programme for a laugh (years ago) but the impact on the men's lives was quite profound.

larrygrylls · 20/08/2015 22:20

Yonic,

Brilliant. Wish I had the genius to think of a name like that. Lookout for MicropenisScience in the near future.
