Ooh ooh! Do I get to start it?

Wine and cake all round. And a celebratory burst on the patriarchy-blasting cannon!

Old pub here

It's several to be honest. And not any single poster :( yes maybe I should stay in here

PalmerViolet · 23/06/2016 09:18

I have mostly stopped posting on rape apology threads elsewhere because the number of men and women whining on about how men just can't fucking control their dicks if there's a drunk woman within a 5 mile radius is starting to piss me the fuck off.

DetestableHerytike · 25/06/2016 14:51

Heavens, it's nearly a year since this pub was started and we are into a whole new season of summer deluges!

RobinsAreTerritorialFuckers · 27/06/2016 22:16

Nice to see the pub again.

Felascloak · 27/06/2016 22:18

Hello.
I'm drowning my brexit / football sorrows Wine

RobinsAreTerritorialFuckers · 27/06/2016 22:34

I've been avoiding the football, and trying like mad to avoid Brexit - both topics seem to involve a lot of men talking. I can live without men talking at me for a good while, I think.

DetestableHerytike · 27/06/2016 22:44

Wotcha Robins

NeverEverAnythingEver · 28/06/2016 12:48

Hello! Haven't been here for a while. I've ranted a fair bit in RL though ...

Xenophile · 28/06/2016 14:47

I am sticking to posting about Brexit in small places.

The sadness at what is happening as a result of it all is sometimes overwhelming.

EightNoineTen · 28/06/2016 15:29

Hello pub. The world feels so rubbish at the moment. The pub's always empty. Gender still exists. Brexit. My local children's centre is low on funding. Bah humbug.

"Gender still exists. "

Yeah. We watched Robot Wars and DC noticed that in one of the teams which had a young woman in it they never interviewed her. :(

RobinsAreTerritorialFuckers · 29/06/2016 08:37

right back at you, Dete. Smile

But yes, feeling fed up about the world seems to be pretty universal at the moment.

Thelilywhite · 29/06/2016 09:12

I'm fed up too. Especially with hearing my dh and ds 1 shouting at each other over brexit. Last night I burst in to tears with the stress of it and I told them if they didn't stop and agree to disagree I would go and stay with my mum for the summer ( a measure of my desperation!) The only positive thing I can think of out of it is that I raised a politically aware ds...

RobinsAreTerritorialFuckers · 29/06/2016 10:11

Oh, no. Sad

It's depressing how much it becomes a family argument. I read some great pieces by people about how hard it is to have that discussion. Especially when there's an element of tension about what kinds of job/lifestyle you have, and what kind the rest of your family has.

Thelilywhite · 29/06/2016 11:23

So true Robins Myself and dh lucky enough to be retired early from fairly well paid middle class professions. Two ds both degree educated but recently both unemployed. Our relationship with our sons has mostly been good and I really hope this will not cause a permenant rift..

RobinsAreTerritorialFuckers · 29/06/2016 11:51

I hope so too - and I'm sure it won't!

I am so conscious that much of this debate is about miscommunication - so, with luck, we'll get past the actual disagreements in the end.

EElisavetaOfBelsornia · 05/07/2016 05:29

I agree, things are pretty grim at the moment generally and the amount of testosterone in British politics is depressing. The pub is empty, but then at this hour that's probably a good thing! Off to find an early morning feminist coffee.

FreshwaterSelkie · 07/07/2016 19:42

I see in the news that Germany has made some much-needed updates to its rape laws

What do we think? Seems positive in that it removes the bizarre requirement for a woman to physically resist a rapist, which is a step in the right direction.

DetestableHerytike · 07/07/2016 20:31

Agreed, a step forward

Felascloak · 07/07/2016 21:10

Hopefully they will retract the fine they imposed for false testimony on Lisa Lohfink too
Disgusting

TeiTetua · 08/07/2016 17:11

You can say "the amount of testosterone in British politics is depressing" but there's this:
www.bbc.com/news/blogs-the-papers-36741946

Do I catch the whiff of oestrogen in the breeze?

DetestableHerytike · 08/07/2016 17:22

Since 1975:

One female prime minister
No female Chancellors
One female foreign secretary
Two female Home Secretaries.

The oestrogen isn't much beyond homeopathic levels yet...

slightlyglitterbrained · 11/07/2016 12:09

Fucks sake. Same old fucking bleating on every fucking thread that comes up that even suggests that a MAN might be being a tiny bit unreasonable to block the return to work of the mother of his children by being a lazy prick.

They are fucking bots, not intelligent life forms.

Right, back to Monday.
