I have mostly stopped posting on rape apology threads elsewhere because the number of men and women whining on about how men just can't fucking control their dicks if there's a drunk woman within a 5 mile radius is starting to piss me the fuck off.

Heavens, it's nearly a year since this pub was started and we are into a whole new season of summer deluges!

I've been avoiding the football, and trying like mad to avoid Brexit - both topics seem to involve a lot of men talking. I can live without men talking at me for a good while, I think.

The sadness at what is happening as a result of it all is sometimes overwhelming.

I'm fed up too. Especially with hearing my dh and ds 1 shouting at each other over brexit. Last night I burst in to tears with the stress of it and I told them if they didn't stop and agree to disagree I would go and stay with my mum for the summer ( a measure of my desperation!) It's depressing how much it becomes a family argument. I read some great pieces by people about how hard it is to have that discussion. Especially when there's an element of tension about what kinds of job/lifestyle you have, and what kind the rest of your family has.

So true Robins Myself and dh lucky enough to be retired early from fairly well paid middle class professions. Two ds both degree educated but recently both unemployed. Our relationship with our sons has mostly been good and I really hope this will not cause a permenant rift..

I am so conscious that much of this debate is about miscommunication - so, with luck, we'll get past the actual disagreements in the end.

I agree, things are pretty grim at the moment generally and the amount of testosterone in British politics is depressing. The pub is empty, but then at this hour that's probably a good thing! Off to find an early morning feminist coffee.

I see in the news that Germany has made some much-needed updates to its rape laws

What do we think? Seems positive in that it removes the bizarre requirement for a woman to physically resist a rapist, which is a step in the right direction.
