Ooh ooh! Do I get to start it?

Wine and cake all round. And a celebratory burst on the patriarchy-blasting cannon!

Old pub here

Happy IWD women.

I have just had my first, what about international men's day then, eh? Eh?

So I feel that everything is as it should be today. Grin

BarefootAcrossHotLegoPieces · 08/03/2016 08:33

Can't breathe properly today. Bah!

PalmerViolet · 08/03/2016 08:39

Hope you feel better soon Barefoot

RoseDeGambrinus · 08/03/2016 10:22

Have a look at Richard Herring on Twitter. Every IWD he replies to all the 'when's International Men's Day then?' tweets: 'November 19th'

WomanWithAltitude · 08/03/2016 12:53

It's depressing how many women are among those asking the question. Women who clearly feel that feminism is worth arguing against.

femfortheday · 08/03/2016 16:15

Large gin with a side of gin please.

After seeing yet another thread on a favourite site unfold into a SJ back patting party, discussing how 'problematic' and 'gross' Rad Fems are etc I've just had enough of the world right now.

Sorry. Yes, Social Justice. Was typing while walking through town.

RoseDeGambrinus · 11/03/2016 08:41

Hello. Have you seen this thread on 'media requests'? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/media_requests/2588474-Female-Casting-Call-for-ad-campaign?pg=1&order= I love Mumsnet sometimes.

Few of us post much anymore, too much whataboutery.

I believe Buffy is busy.

FreshwaterSelkie · 06/04/2016 12:23

The whataboutery is maddening. There's been a few times recently that I've had to check which board I'm posting on, because I've found myself having to defend or clarify basic feminist positions, like believing women that women who say they have been sexually assaulted. Too weird.

ANYHOO! In better news, are you all aware that France is hoping to criminalise buying sex, as of today? The final debates are just happening.

Men buying sex can would be fined 1500E, with a penalty of 3750E for recidivism. And they will be sent on a course to understand "the conditions of prostitution" (which I think is a great idea). Soliciting would no longer be a criminal act. Foreign nationals who want to exit prostitution will be granted a 6 month leave to stay in the country to help them exit.

I don't know if english language media has picked it up yet, but for any French readers (or possessors of google translate!), here's the le monde link.

Usual arguments for and against, as you'd expect, so everything crossed it gets through.

Allez la France Grin

PalmerViolet · 06/04/2016 12:25

That's amazing news Selkie.

isn't it and doesn't it? Will update later when they report how its gone.

NeverEverAnythingEver · 08/04/2016 08:29

I saw that news too!

Haven't posted on here much. I find the whataboutery a bit much, sometimes ... It's a bit like what's-his-name with the pushing-the-boulder-up-the-hill. Sisyphus. Or housework. Relentless, unchanging, BORING.

But I'm going to bake a cake today. I've given myself a few days off just to take the kids round places and restricted work stuff to deleting emails and polishing off the dull stuff. Quite keen to get back to proper work next week.

Right, that's it. Apparently it's fine to send 8 year old girls play makeup, and bad to send it back saying it's inappropriate.

I'm not going out there any more (stomps feet)

Blow the lot of them and their horrifically binding gender ideals.

I shall stay in FWR where we're allowed to think what we like.
