Ooh ooh! Do I get to start it?

Wine and cake all round. And a celebratory burst on the patriarchy-blasting cannon!

Old pub here

Good luck in your new job EElisaveta
I would just like to come in , sink a pint of Guinness and have a rant if that's ok. I was in Boots today and I saw an advert that gave me the rage. It was loreals new perfume promoted by Helen Mirren, obviously aimed at older women called 'golden age' Aarrrrg- so we have to have our own perfume now do we?? So that 'invisible doesn't have to be inevitable' Well I dont know about you but I saw myself clear as day when I last looked in a mirror! Grrr. I'd a good mind to buy a bottle of Charlie just to be perverse. Yeah yeah I know .. first world problems ... another pint please

WomanWithAltitude · 02/03/2016 16:08

Special perfume for older women? I can understand the need to rant about that!

Checking in after a ridiculous day at work. I went to a panel today. I haven't been to this office before so members of staff didn't know me. I was there to observe the admin team, I am not a member of the admin team. About 10 minutes in one of the members of the panel suddenly realized that he didn't have a copy of the required papers and came over to tell me. I was a bit confused, because why would I care...but then he actually tried to take my copies! I need them too, you entitled twat!

Aye Matilda ffs just about covers it!
Toast I bet you were fuming. Did you say anything to him along those lines?

thatstoast · 02/03/2016 19:38

I had to put my hand on them and said "these are mine." It was very odd.

NeverEverAnythingEver · 02/03/2016 20:37

toast That's very odd. Why would anyone do that!?

I think it was the case he assumed I was part of the admin team. Although if I was part of the team I still wouldn't be happy with him trying to grab my agenda!

Yes, good. I hope her family can take comfort from his conviction.

HemlockSolanum · 04/03/2016 18:48

Saw some idiot online trying to claim Pistorius being forced to face the consequences of murder was somehow against Disability Rights. The mental gymnastics these apologists for male violence go through are almost impressive.

BarefootAcrossHotLegoPieces · 06/03/2016 08:24

Further to the AIBU thread (now full) on the Direspect NoBody campaign, I've just heard two radio ads, both female teenage voices. In the first, one was cautioning the other against sending a picture to her boyfriend. The other was a girl reacting to her friend saying she wasn't allowed to speak to her and that her boyfriend checked her phone.

Both were done as natural conversations and I thought they were good.

Grin

I abandoned the thread around p15 - was surprised to see how it had turned out.

Fact.

WomanWithAltitude · 06/03/2016 17:39

I saw a TV advert and thought it was good too.

NeverEverAnythingEver · 07/03/2016 10:28

That has passed me by... Confused

Thelilywhite · 07/03/2016 19:59

Just popped in for a pint of guiness and to ask if anyone is doing anything interesting for international women's day tomorrow? I will be wearing my 'crush the patriarchy' tshirt to work. That'll tell em!

OublietteBravo · 07/03/2016 22:04

There are a few seminars at work tomorrow linked to international women's day. Only trouble is 75% of them are being given by men Hmm (and I'm on unpaid leave this week anyhow).

NeverEverAnythingEver · 08/03/2016 07:23

I've had a work email about IWD too but I'm not going because I have too much work to do.

MsMermaid · 08/03/2016 07:30

We don't officially do anything for IWD, but I think I shall be mentioning inspirational women in every lesson. I'm not quite sure how to link them to the maths I'm supposed to be teaching, but I'll shoehorn it in somehow.

NeverEverAnythingEver · 08/03/2016 07:56

There are events at work but I'm working from home today. Also am very cynical about it. You can shout about IWD but if you thwart women in every way you can shout all you like but you can fuck off as far as I am concerned. Put your money where your mouth is.

Everyday is International Women's Day for me.
