housework

I'll probably get everyone shouting at me, but why is it not obvious that men don't do half of housework?

If women are only working 70% (or whatever) as much as men, then it wouldn't be equality if it was all shared in the house. More men work longer hours so less men do housework. When as many women are in fulltime employment then as many men will do the chores? It seems pretty obvious.

that won't happen though. Not till men have babies LOL

I think I'm going to need a bigger oven...

PuffinsAreFictitious · 13/02/2015 17:33

Phew! Sorry I'm late, did Iheartu take me up on my kind offer of a bit of a sneer?

Hope not, don't think I've got the energy now.

almondcakes · 13/02/2015 18:57

Iheartu (who may now have left) seems to be saying that being a SAHM is not a proper use of anyone's time, presumably because looking after children is not a proper use of anyone's time, so while being a SAHM they should also do most of the housework.

I don't think it is feminists who are criticising SAHMs here.

RufusTheReindeer · 13/02/2015 19:14

buffy

I think it's fairly obvious that no planning whatsoever has gone into this plan.

tabulahrasa you stay away from me!!!

PuffinsAreFictitious · 13/02/2015 19:47

Does this mean we're not having cake now?

Bollocks!

RufusTheReindeer · 13/02/2015 20:10

We can still have cake

It's just that I'm not going to be in it

So win, win!!

tabulahrasa · 13/02/2015 20:11

We could go back to my plan of just hollowing the cake out...then there's more cake as well.

Anniegetyourgun · 13/02/2015 20:16

I found a great way to make sure nobody does more than their fair share of the dusting in my household. Nobody does any. It's scrupulously fair.

This also works for vacuuming, ironing, window cleaning and car washing (isn't that why God makes it rain?). Admittedly this otherwise splendid system kind of falls down when it comes to preparing food, because we do get peckish every now and then. Thank heavens for the microwave.

Now, did someone mention cake?

duchesse · 13/02/2015 20:24

Haahahaha LOLZ OP. I have 4 children, work the same number of hours as DH and we share the housework most equally. Seems fair to me. Even when I was working from home. When he's stretched I do more and when I'm stretched he does more. It's only common sense and teamwork. Requires communication though.
