Very quietly, it would appear.

Exactly. In the context of p3 I don't give a shit whether men are "visual creatures" or not. Why does that extend to objectifying women on a daily basis and in public as some sort of right?

Olbasaddict · 24/01/2015 11:34

Yes excellent point. I hate that women are supposed to capitulate in expecting and demanding to live in a society where we have human and equal rights...all because of men's pretend NEED of visual stimulation. Their desire to be stimulated does NOT trump my need and my right to live in an equal society.

Men need to realise they are not gods.

Just out of interest, thought you might like to compare and contrast Magnetic's first post on the site with this one, by our old PBP friend Daddancer over at the MN fan club site:

forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?p=76615480&highlight=#post76615480

Hard to believe Magnetic is Daddancer though, because DD would rather chew his own feet off than say he is a feminist. Just found that curious.

A cartoon from the Telegraph:

PuffinsAreFictitious · 24/01/2015 16:37

No, but they do just copy and paste each other's scripts. It's a well known tactic of MRE dochebags. They openly admit it as well.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 24/01/2015 16:49

Oh, and I'd forgotten how utterly vile he was as well. Stupid of me to do an AS for his name. Although, it was quite eye opening with regards to Xenia's views on women....

chockbic · 24/01/2015 17:28

ThecTines has an article saying we're too prudish and ought to give into our lust.

By the terms we and our I'm assuming he means men.

Us silly complaining women!

chockbic · 24/01/2015 17:28

The Times

PetulaGordino · 24/01/2015 17:47

Anti-objectification =/= prudish

YonicScrewdriver · 24/01/2015 17:50

Oh, is he proposing the Times publishes pictures of near naked men then?

chockbic · 24/01/2015 17:50

Looking forward to next week's letters page.

Assuming they print any response, of course.

chockbic · 24/01/2015 17:55

A quote: my deepest worry about the puritanism that would drive bare breasts from a newspaper is the consequence for sexual repression.

He also compares Page 3 to a Manet painting depicting a bare, lustful woman.

Article by Matthew Paris.

BriarRainbowshimmer · 24/01/2015 17:58

Yeah when girls going through puberty and feel awkward when they're being sexually harassed by boys and men looking at page 3 and then at them, they're just being prudish!

chockbic · 24/01/2015 18:02

The whole piece makes me feel uncomfortable.

Don't deny our urges.

FGS.

YonicScrewdriver · 24/01/2015 18:07

Matthew Paris, the ex conservative Mp? Who is gay?

PetulaGordino · 24/01/2015 18:07

If he can't get aroused without seeing teenage breasts then I'm sorry for him - he's missing out on a whole world of marvellous sexual experience

He's missed the point about Manet too so showing a lot of ignorance there

I give into my lust frequently, it just doesn't involve the objectification of 50% of the population

PetulaGordino · 24/01/2015 18:09

I'd forgotten he was gay. Presumably no teenage breasts required then

YonicScrewdriver · 24/01/2015 18:09

Ah, yes, the very one.
www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/opinion/columnists/article4333071.ece

I can't read the whole thing but he's normally sound-ish - he wasn't trying for sarcasm, was he, chock?

PetulaGordino · 24/01/2015 18:12

Manet was a flaneur - it was all about the male gaze

chockbic · 24/01/2015 18:16

It doesn't read sarcastic but I didn't know him before today.

PetulaGordino · 24/01/2015 18:22

I know of him as the presenter of Great Lives on radio 4, and he always comes across well on there

SardineQueen · 24/01/2015 20:27

Can't see the whole article.

Obviously it is a terrible idea for everyone to give in to their basest urges because that would mean a massive increase in sexual harrassment, sexual assault, rape. What is he on about Confused

Can only assume it makes sense in the context of the whole article?
