Carry on.

Artifex - it's because Brave could be dismissed as "she's just a tomboy." Frozen explicitly contrasts bad and good male behaviour, so it's much more threatening to a certain type of man - it's saying "Look, even Disney's telling you you shouldn't draw women in by being all over them in a display of false emotion, then turning out to be an abusive arsehole once you think you've got 'em trapped."

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 06/02/2015 11:48

Maybe because Frozen is like toddler crack? DS adores it, knows it word for word and sleeps with a toy Olaf every night.

Hi enormouse. That thread is horrible.

Oh my word kickass that's brilliant, and also A LOT of stairs.

After all the talk of treadmills I managed to fall over while out running. Damage seems to be limited to my pride.

Artifexmumdi · 06/02/2015 12:19

Ah, the snow golem thing is too scary for my littlies so our current crack is Team Umizoomi.

See what you mean about Brave though.

LightningOnlyStrikesOnce · 06/02/2015 12:31

You've just talked me into getting frozen. I was avoiding it: I avoid any modern disney thing until its proven. Yay consumerism (my poor deprived dd). I loved that fox news link, brilliantly written.

PetulaGordino · 06/02/2015 12:57

i don't by any means think that frozen is perfect or that it doesn't perpetuate some dodgy stuff, but if it's upsetting sexist fold then that's fine by me Grin

SconeRhymesWithGone · 06/02/2015 14:04

I haven't seen Frozen, but yeah, if it's got Concerned Women for America pissed off, then I will appreciate it on principle. They are an avowed anti-feminist organization that was established specifically as a counterpoint to the National Organization for Women. One of their latest forays is to try to stop a proposed National Women's History Museum in Washington.

PetulaGordino · 06/02/2015 14:09

i probably shouldn't, but i have to laugh at the name. they can't even admit that they might express an emotion beyond anything other than the stereotypically ladylike "concerned"

UptoapointLordCopper · 06/02/2015 16:23

LOL. Whereas feminists are not concerned about anything at all. Oh no.

SconeRhymesWithGone · 06/02/2015 16:37

That video brings a new dimension to the notion of "pearl clutching." Grin

PetulaGordino · 06/02/2015 16:38

I'm a spittle-flecked furious feminist most of the time Grin

kickassangel · 06/02/2015 20:44

me, I spend so long looking for things to be offended by that I exhaust myself.

It's the fault of all these bloody scientists, going round changing names. Umbelliferae is a way better name than apiaceae. I might campaign for everyone to stop becoming scientists, so they stop this sort of nomenclature changing nonsense.

I don't feel quite so annoyed about apatosaurus, though. It might possibly be a better name than brontosaurus, at least sound-wise. It's still confusing.
