S'alright, MEOD, he has a vanishingly small chance of being allowed to appeal.

LurcioAgain · 12/11/2014 20:47

Actually it's even more complicated Yonic. He's already appealed, had his appeal dismissed by a panel of 3 judges. His case is currently waiting examination by the Criminal Cases Review Commission (I don't know on what grounds, since the appeal was turned down).

It's also worth repeating the fact that he incriminated himself - the jury decided that he'd raped his victim on the basis of his own account of events, namely that he turned the taxi he was in round on receiving a text from his friend inviting him to join in, obtained a key to the room under false pretences, then stuck his dick in his victim because his friend said it was okay. Not much room for doubt there, really. The man is a rapist.

Yy MEOD. Lurcio, I think the three judges outlined why they weren't granting permission.

Assume in an appeal the victim would have to testify again?

Evening folks. For anyone who has found this news story upsetting for their own reasons, and for anyone else who may simply be interested, we wanted to link again to our We Believe You campaign.

The second is that the football pitches of England would be half-empty this Saturday afternoon if you removed every player who has done what Evans did. (And so would many of the clubs and pubs.)

so because lots of men are rapists...no men are rapists. Makes snese to me.

Unlike the law of the land, the twentysomething therapists believe that young women like them have to take responsibility for their own behaviour and not rely on the bloke “to know whether you want it or not”.

Is it really so much to ask that you know if someone wants to fuck you before you fuck them? IS it really?

You people are trying to deny this man the ability to work. Should he go and join ISIS instead then

One of the more intelligent commentators. Hmm

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 12/11/2014 21:47

Joining ISIS and playing for Sheffield United: those are indeed the two main careers that there are.

As soon as I saw a link to a fucking awful telegraph article I knew it would be Allison Fucking Pearson. Truly I don't know how - or why - she does it.

LurcioAgain · 12/11/2014 21:58

Actually, given his attitude towards women, I'd say he'd fit in perfectly with ISIS - that commentator may indeed be more intelligent than you think!

SevenZarkSeven · 12/11/2014 22:01

"The second is that the football pitches of England would be half-empty this Saturday afternoon if you removed every player who has done what Evans did. (And so would many of the clubs and pubs.)"

Sounds excellent.

What an absolutely wonderful world it would be if all men who have done what evans did, ie raped someone, were off the streets. What a breath of fresh air for everyone, quite frankly.

What is the reason that we don't want all the rapists off the streets then?

FuckOffGerbil · 12/11/2014 22:06

Um I think it's because there would be no one to go to the pub and no footie. Well except for women's Hmm

God forbid rapists actually go to jail and serve their fucking sentences and not be allowed to play football.

I've been thinking I'm not sure about the SAHM thing. Do you think I should consider ISIS?

ah that comfortable, old rape myth. That most men are rapists.

Congratulations on mixing a truth (Ched Evans raped a woman), with a load of old shite and coming up with something untrue and unpleasant.

Um Pan who are you directing that to? I'm pretty sure Alison Pearson isn't on this thread

SevenZarkSeven · 13/11/2014 17:36

I also think it's pretty moot how empty the pubs would be if you clicked your fingers and every man in the world who had ever raped someone vanished.

I reckon everywhere would be a fair bit quieter, for sure.

YonicScrewdriver · 13/11/2014 18:05

Maybe there'd be more women at the pubs if there were fewer rapistx there?

Amethyst24 · 13/11/2014 20:07

Jess Ennis has now spoken out about this too m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/30046618

YonicScrewdriver · 13/11/2014 20:12
