You can watch here

She has to talk till midnight, so that is 13hours. Without a break, without sitting down.

Wow!
Just seen this on Facebook

OliviaYouCannotBSeriousMumsnet · 25/06/2013 21:50

@AmandaPandtheTantrumofDoom

Oooh, can she yield for a question and have a sit down

I knew that one too.

TheHonLindaRadlett · 25/06/2013 21:53

There's a male senator talking on the link at the moment - does that mean she can yield a la Senator Stackhouse in The West Wing?

BrianButterfield · 25/06/2013 21:54

Just took this to show DH who is watching the West Wing in the bath and he's watching the filibuster episode! (As an aside, we've been rewatching after some years and the first thing I said when Donna came on was "oh my god, that's (our friend) x!" I don't know why I never realised it's basically her.)

MrsLyman · 25/06/2013 21:55

A bit confused is the guy currently asking questions helping her? He said he disagreed with her but not sure about the details of the bill.

Greythorne · 25/06/2013 21:56

Top one, Wendy

Brave, sensible woman.

NiceTabard · 25/06/2013 21:56

Wow

Thank you for this thread Smile

What a brilliant woman.

GO GO GO GO GO GO!!!!!!!!!!

TheHonLindaRadlett · 25/06/2013 21:57

The Stackhouse Fillibuster is one of my very favourite WW episodes when all the Grandparents turn up. Sniff. Go Wendy!!

TunipTheVegedude · 25/06/2013 21:57

Best of luck to her.
I am very impressed.

MalenkyRusskyDrakonchik · 25/06/2013 21:58

I just caught the end of his question - it sounded as if he was actually bringing up issues that could make abortion after-care better?

MrsLyman · 25/06/2013 21:59

I just watched a clip of that episode on YouTube, it made me cry a bit Blush

MmeLindor · 25/06/2013 22:00

The guys asking questions seem to be Republicans, and they are asking short questions.

Stackhouse was asked a very long question, and was able to sit down while it was asked.

I will ask on Twitter

Go Wendy! From a MNer in New England...keep talking Chiquita!

MrsLyman · 25/06/2013 22:01

Yes I think he is helping, his questions are incredibly detailed and he said he had a lot of them.

MalenkyRusskyDrakonchik · 25/06/2013 22:01

'My question is in thirty-two parts. It might take some time'.

Yeah. Grin

She is impressive but her voice is already sounding a bit weary - how long has she been going?!

MmeLindor · 25/06/2013 22:05

Ok, Twitter informs me that she must stay standing the whole time.

MrsLyman · 25/06/2013 22:08

Yes, I suspected the 'would you like to sit down for a glass of water' whilst I ask my 22 part question was artistic licence.

Littleballofhate · 25/06/2013 22:08

It is 5:06 pm here in New England. I believe Texas is an hour behind us. This brave, amazing woman is all that stands between the women of Texas and terrible anti-choice laws being enacted.

SunshineBossaNova · 25/06/2013 22:10

Amazing :)

MrsLyman · 25/06/2013 22:11

Actually just heard his last question, about 3rd trimester abortions for unwanted babies, maybe he's not helping..

Justfornowitwilldo · 25/06/2013 22:14

Kick ass.

I hope she can make it.

MrsLyman · 25/06/2013 22:15

Just thinking about how terrible it is to take away a woman's right to choose, and remembered I live in a part of the UK where abortion is illegal. Crap

MalenkyRusskyDrakonchik · 25/06/2013 22:17

Scary thought, mrsL. Sad

5madthings · 25/06/2013 22:21

This is really interesting, so glad she is doing this. Dont like the bloke at the moment, women can have all, health care they need bit not abortion...and more are saying whilst we talk about it...oh do fuck off.

SconeRhymesWithGone · 25/06/2013 22:21

See, this is why I joined Mumsnet. Here I am in Florida, at the end of my work day, plugged into all sorts of US news outlets, but find out about this from the other side of the pond. And I really appreciate the support for those of us here in the US who are fighting back in the war on women that has really escalated in this country in the last several years. Go Wendy and go Mumsnet!
