To not responsd to MRAs or the like? They really want us to engage while they don't listen and as said earlier (by runninginheels, us think ) we should probably not be giving them the attention they are craving

I find it difficult to stay out of threads with MRAs as others will be engaging so you feel as though you need to to keep up. If all if us just say at the time, I'm not going to give this person the time of day it might make it easier for all of us, to talk around the person and hopefully they'll get bored and go away.

(and yes, this is a silencing tactic)

Sabrina is that because he can come up with reasonable debate but you and your little mates here don't even want to debate so resort to your usual tactics of personal abuse? Crack on as it just shows to everyone outsider of mumsnet hoe deluded you lot really are.

Just trying not to feed the trolls, Maggy.

So anyone who doesn't agree with your doctrine is a troll then? Typical trying to shut down anything you don't agree with.

FYI, Maggie, Doctrine's another poster here.

But single issue posters, who join MN just to goad a poster/group of posters are reportable.

I veer between ignoring them, taking the piss out of them and occasionally throwing in a few facts.

Just for the lurkers. I'm not really talking to the limpdicks, I'm talking to the people who are reading who might be thinking that they have a point.

Report
BasilBabyEater · 12/04/2013 18:56

But I'll try and ignore for a bit.

HullMum · 12/04/2013 19:35

I can see what you mean basil, but does it just encourage them to post more lies, for the lurkers to read? Not that it's easy to ignore at all, his last little post about 2 million men dying a year at work... women do 2/3 of the world's work... what do you want the bet the number is double for women? mumsnet should have a stabby emoticon.

I'm still struggling to understand why Mumsnet allows these trolls to use the boards for their misogynist activism.

All this kow-towing to free speech - in reality, it's just lining up with the people who have the loudest voices out there in the real world.

The media loves printing shit about how women are now more equal than men, allowing these arseholes to print their lies in the name of free speech, is just pretending that everyone's got the same volume of voice in the wider world. It's so unobservant.

yeah I'm quite Confused as well. They have no actual interest in the site. Even daftpunk back when she was posting had a reason for posting on mn. they're here purely to goad. I think saying the rape stats are lies and that women probably commit more acts of DV against men than the other way around should be viewed as hate speech. If they were being racist or disabliast theyd be gone by now. But for some reason we have to accept that men should be allowed to have their say. Angry

Yes it was me that said that op.

Ooops - I haven't managed to take my own advice Blush but like basil I veer between rolling my eyes at them/ignoring them and putting them right. And sometimes I have to take the piss.

I try to ignore and report. I'd like to be able to see the deletion message without having posted on the thread though, so I can see if it was someone previously banned, etc. Not sure you can do that by just watching a thread?

Report
runningforthebusinheels · 12/04/2013 23:00

By the way - I have reported him - but been told that MN aren't the arbitors of bad taste and were challenging him etc etc.

I'm not a fan of censoreship, but I think this does cross over into hate speech when he accuses feminists/mothers/women of neglecting their male children. Hmm As if.

amanda a lot of posters do just say posting for the deletion message. I don't think it annoys anyone like just marking my place does Since it usually isnt a sensitive subject

Report
HullMum · 13/04/2013 02:00

He has been pwned yoni, but I dont think he knows it. Such is the extent of his stupidity.

And how can you argue with someone like that? Confused

I bloody hate MRAs. I don't usually get past the op because I don't have the patience to engage with them. Narcissistic little scrotes.

AmandaPayneAteTooMuchChocolate · 13/04/2013 07:49

Thing is, saying 'just posting for the deletion message' means that the person is getting responses. They know they are being read. It also pushes it up active convos. I rather like the idea that these idiots come on here and are just roundly ignored. You know, not one reply and then deleted if appropriate. Not saying I'm not happy to have a proper discussion, but I think many of them are so obviously total bullshit that they are unlikely to educate even lurkers.

That's true.

What does PWN mean?

Report
runningforthebusinheels · 13/04/2013 11:41

Pwn means 'own' (originating from a typo I believe) ie beaten.

runningforthebusinheels · 13/04/2013 11:45

Did you see the way he attacked Nick last night? Angry he just doesn't realise that all men don't think like he does.

Report
BasilBabyEater · 13/04/2013 11:51

He's a great example of men who can't conceive that other men can be decent.

I almost feel sorry for these idiots sometimes.

Almost.

I've not looked at that thread for a couple of days. There were things said that brought back bad memories, memories I'd kept buried for a number of years. It felt weird to put into words something I'd bottled up for so long, but it's out there now and it's too late to change that.

I hope Vadark and his ilk see sense, but I won't hold my breath.

Can't we just shoot them?

It would save a lot of time and energy AND stop them spawning! Brill or what?

or dig a huge hole at the gate to this section?

then we can fill the hole with shit we've collected from AIBU?
