Just feeling really angry at all the murder, assault, rape of females that goes on

BornStroppy · 11/08/2012 08:05

I told my husband how horrible it is being part of a gender that is constantly attacked, murdered, etc. He had never thought about it. He doesn´t need to. So we have Tia Sharp, the lady who disappeard in London, an old lady in Scotland murdered by son´s friend, another one murdered in a taxi in Birmingham - this is just over two weeks.

I have one son, pregnant again and just hope its another boy to be honest.

Why is it OK? Apart from raising gentlemen, what the hell can we do? As a gender, we give birth, nurture, raise, care for them, and as a gender we are the ones who suffer at their hands.

its so depressing.

Whatmeworry · 14/08/2012 16:06

I repeat: What possible evidene could you have for this?

Are you really saying you are unaware of any evidence that male violence is used to create status among males?

Whatmeworry · 14/08/2012 16:08

Not sure what I am saying tbh,but I dont think violence is just limited to those who feel socially excluded

It isn't, but it is more likely as they have very few other methods.

TheDoctrineOfEnnis · 14/08/2012 16:42

amillionyears, that was Dominique Strauss-Kahn.

Interesting example - I wonder if DSK ever used any violence against males.

peoplesrepublicofmeow · 14/08/2012 17:10

doctrine in passing me that link your just preaching to the converted, i could just as easily pass you that link assuming you made excuses for rape.

LRD you are so wide of the mark, your just not arguing with me but with someone else who has said some terrible things.

my comments about the way adult human females select mates and it's regard to the male peking order has nothing, i repeat NOTHING to do with male violence towareds women nor is it in any way an apology for male violence.

a number of times now i have said one thing and you start ranting about something totaly different.

peoplesrepublicofmeow · 14/08/2012 17:12

you want evedence for female mate selection?

the fact that men are usually bigger than women, thats a result of sexual selection, women choseing bigger partners.

TheDoctrineOfEnnis · 14/08/2012 18:45

Meow, I was explaining why I thought your deleted post might be against the spirit of We Believe You. This may or may not be why MNHQ deleted it. Nothing in your subsequent non-deleted posts has been against this spirit.

Where did I make excuses for rape, please?

pornmonkey · 14/08/2012 18:49

dragon, are you aware how often you "don't understand", on the many threads you have an arguement opinion on? Almost all of them.

peoplesrepublicofmeow · 14/08/2012 19:26

no doctrine you diddnt make an excuse for rape, i diddnt mean that.
i was slightly put out that you thought i would benifit from the feminist literature in "we belive you" i was pointing out "no more than you do".

it got deleated because LRD turned it into something it wasnt, by arguing not with what i had said but something else, thus making mumsnet towers think that too.

i say "men use violence in vieing for position in the pecking order"

LRD says "do you realise how many women are abused !!!!!"

the fact the two things are not linked in any way doesnt matter, what matters is LRD gets a victim to vent her spleen at and MNHQ choses to appease her.

you must have belived her otherwise you wouldnt have thought i was in such need of rape myth education.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 14/08/2012 19:41

Yeah, but porn, I know what I'm talking about. Smile

meow, honestly, I don't think you can blame me for you being deleted. If MNHQ deleted everything I think is misogynistic woman-blaming, this board would be much emptier.

peoplesrepublicofmeow · 14/08/2012 19:59

are you telling me you diddnt report it?

LRDtheFeministDragon · 14/08/2012 20:10

Of course I reported it. As I imagine did many others. The point is, I have no power to make them delete things so it's a bit silly to blame me for it.

The irony of shifted blame here is beginning to get to me, now.

TheDoctrineOfEnnis · 14/08/2012 20:24

Meow your deleted post said I'm sorry but the way women choose men encourages male violence. Do you really not see that statement at least partially blames someone other than the perpetrator of the violence for that violence, in a similar way to certain rape myths? That is the only post of yours I have been talking about, which began as a suggestion as to why it might have been deleted.

peoplesrepublicofmeow · 14/08/2012 21:15

i made it quite clear i wasnt blaming women after i said that, so taken out of context yes, i could have been talking about any sort of violence, domestic violence, rape even.
read it properly and you will see i was talking about evolution and sexual selection.

the sentence after that i said "i'm not blaming women for this, it's sexual selection and something we do as a species"

in fact if pimevil woman haddnt have favoured the stronger men the human race would probobly be alot less successful than it is. in the same way as primievil man would have favoured the healthyest women.

however. maybe i should have made myself even more clear than i did, but really, do we all have to walk on eggshells incase someone takes your words litteraly or out of context?

LRDtheFeministDragon · 14/08/2012 21:22

I still don't find it clear, to be honest, so maybe it wasn't as clear as you thought?

This whole thread seems to be covering some dubious territory (apologies to the OP, who obviously didn't start it to do that at all!)

Saying that violence against women happens because of 'something we do as a species' makes it worse, not better, IMO.

Btw, suggesting people shouldn't take your words 'litteraly' makes no sense. Of course people will take you literally - if you're speaking in metaphors I have no idea what those metaphors would be? Confused

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 14/08/2012 21:38

Is this a good moment to stop and remember the huge numbers of women around the world who have no choice in who their 'partner' is? The women who are traded for dowries and family connections, the women who are trafficked into prostitution, passed around gangs, held practically hostage by abusive partners, raped in wartime, raped by people they thought they could trust ( (((hugs))) and Thanks for anybody going through this at the moment - there have been a couple of threads that have moved me to tears on here in the last couple of days) ...

In the face of what actually goes on, and what has gone on for as long as we have records for, across most of the planet, to say women are responsible for men's violence because of the way we choose men is outrageously crass and victim-blaming on a global scale.

Thanks MNHQ for deleting that post.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 14/08/2012 21:39

That's true plenty. Sad

Hope you are ok.

chibi · 14/08/2012 21:39

primeval women clearly favoured dumbasses given the number of them around...

chibi · 14/08/2012 21:40

and thank you plenty for reminding us that for most of recorded history, and in most of the world now, the idea that women generally get to choose their partner and who they have children with is just flat out wrong

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 14/08/2012 21:50

Thanks, I'm ok Smile

I think anger is a healthy response though and chanelled wisely it's a potent force for change.

amillionyears · 14/08/2012 21:51

peoples, are you expecting everyone not to take your words literally?
I take care in what I post,as I realise that some posters are vulnerable, and because I do want my words to be taken literally actually.

peoplesrepublicofmeow · 14/08/2012 21:54

ok, i do like to blame victims
and actually, i just hate women, damn, how did you find me out?

LRDtheFeministDragon · 14/08/2012 21:56

Not funny, meow, knock it off.

Glad you're ok, plenty.

amillionyears · 14/08/2012 21:57

yes peoples, posters on MN should be very careful and accurate what they write.
Try and start tomorrow with a clean slate.

AnyFucker · 14/08/2012 22:40

meow has had a few "clean slates" now

I would imagine he is rapidly running out of them

chibi · 14/08/2012 22:43

making jokes about women hating isn't funny, it's gross, and people who do this are failing to meet the minimum standards of human decency
