Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

AIBU to think that scoffing lemon drizzle cake and shagging toyboys is a feminist act?

Because I enjoy doing both and I'm a self-declared feminist, so it must be, right?

Or is that just a fucking stupid way to look at the world?

Because just because you think you're a feminist and you like doing something, that doesn't mean that every single thing you ever do, from eating cornflakes to dancing the tango, is feminist.

It's lacking in critical thinking and common sense, to think it is.

IMO.

Phallic is very feminist. It shows you're cool and like sex, which is like totally the best.

Beachcomber · 23/03/2012 09:57

Wotsit as phallic is sexxay and that's edgy and feministy - a very post-modern feminist interpretation of the wotsit's place in the individual's psyche.

VictorGollancz · 23/03/2012 10:20

Ahhhhhh, I think I'm getting it now: I LIKE wotsits. And I LIKE sexxxaaaaaaytime.

And what I like is the absolute defining benchmark of anything.

VictorGollancz · 23/03/2012 10:21

(that is a feminist error of syntax, btw)

I went to bed early last night, because fighting the patriarchy is hard work and feminists need to get their feminist sleep. DH, in an act of patriarchal aggression and oppression and a complete lack of respect for women's spaces, rudely woke me and told me to budge over because I was taking up all of the bed. I think I might have drooled on his pillow whilst I was sleeping, as a pre-emptive act of feminist revenge.

MrsChemist · 23/03/2012 12:25

I just ate some Edinburgh shortbread. It was shaped like a square. In an act of female empowerment, I nibbled the edges until it was a crudely cock-shaped. Then I ate it in a feminist manner.

VictorGollancz · 23/03/2012 12:32

My fruit snack pot is crammed to the brim with phallic food. I am enacting feminist resistance by eating it.

Do you think that perhaps doughnuts are more appropriate feminist food, given that they are round and thus symbolise the eternal cyclical feminine?

SmellsLikeTeenStrop · 23/03/2012 12:34

Yes doughnuts, but not yum-yums as they are phallic shaped.

VictorGollancz · 23/03/2012 12:37

SMASH THE YUM-YUMS (I never liked them anyway).

Beachcomber · 24/03/2012 08:09

Doughnuts have feminine curves and a feminine middle void that represents the ultimate tunnel of femininity, so obviously that makes them awesome and feminisity to the extreme.

You telling me you're more of a feminist than I am?

That won't help your cause - you have put me off it now and I bet my dedication will be missed.

messyisthenewtidy · 24/03/2012 09:28

I dunno SGM Hmm did you feel empowered as you scattered the Barbie sprinkles or did you have this nagging feeling you were being duped by the Tescoarchy into choosing them?

Beachcomber - off out to buy jam doughnuts. As I watch the strawberry jam leak into the ultimate tunnel of feministy, I will be secure in the knowledge that this is an important feminist deed.

Beachcomber · 24/03/2012 17:58

It will indeed be Very Symbolic lesley and a deed that will shake the patriarchy to its very core.

lesley33 · 24/03/2012 17:59

And I will add to the symbolic and radical nature of this act by pointing out the symbolism to DP - just as DP is biting into the strawberry jam of course.
