Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

AIBU to think that scoffing lemon drizzle cake and shagging toyboys is a feminist act?

Because I enjoy doing both and I'm a self-declared feminist, so it must be, right?

Or is that just a fucking stupid way to look at the world?

Because just because you think you're a feminist and you like doing something, that doesn't mean that every single thing you ever do, from eating cornflakes to dancing the tango, is feminist.

It's lacking in critical thinking and common sense, to think it is.

IMO.

@Messy - Sorry about the fishcakes Blush

I just presumed that this was a thread prompted by some silliness elsewhere, and was looking for context.

But I am invisible so only you and Alice can see internet sprites

AliceHurled · 21/03/2012 20:37

Oh I knew it was a trick!

Burning fish cakes is a feminist act. I am sure of it. I read a blog about it once.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 21/03/2012 20:37

Ahhh - OK

Just the argument in general.

That I get.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 21/03/2012 20:38

no no no - Making someone else burn fishcakes is a feminist act

messyisthenewtidy · 21/03/2012 20:44

Being crap at anything domestic is my last stand against the Patriarchy!

FrothyDragon · 21/03/2012 20:46

Likewise, messy.

I'm leaving the housework for my husband.

Oh. wait...

Only because I chose to make the cake for myself.

Grumpla · 21/03/2012 20:52

Is it okay if you accidentally marry the toyboy afterwards?

iklboo · 21/03/2012 20:52

And DH is a toyboy.

FrothyDragon · 21/03/2012 20:53

Only if you choose to accidentally marry him, Grumpla...

FrothyDragon · 21/03/2012 20:55

I've just realised the last four men I've dated have been toy boys... [whistles]

messyisthenewtidy · 21/03/2012 20:55

Husband doing the housework? That feminism has gone too far the other way, if you ask me....

Ssh, I don't have a husband... Grin

It's my defence for choosing to watch Eastenders instead of tidying up after DS, who has basically emptied his toy box whilst I was in the kitchen workshed.

messyisthenewtidy · 21/03/2012 21:00

Toyboys that do the housework? Did they do the dusting in nothing but aprons?

AliceHurled · 21/03/2012 21:01

Husbands doing housework is what gives feminism a bad name you know. Extremists!

FrothyDragon · 21/03/2012 21:01

Unfortunately, nope...

messyisthenewtidy · 21/03/2012 21:06

Don't worry Frothy, in my mind they are...

OMG! Is this what objectifying opposite sex feels like? It's strangely fun.... no wonder those bozos don't wanna give it up...

iklboo · 21/03/2012 21:10

I would eat cranberry & orange drizzle cake off toyboy DH, but hairs in your cake are eeeeew & it'd probably set off his eczema anyway.

Grumpla · 21/03/2012 21:30

Phew, thanks Frothy, I was getting worried there...

Grumpla · 21/03/2012 21:31

My toyboy bought me un grande tranche of Feminist Brie for Mothers Day. It was so feminist it wasn't even pasteurised. OMNOMNOM.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 21/03/2012 21:31

I married my toy boy

I am drinking wine as a feminist act.

Fecking DH/Toyboy is away atm, doing a course on how to fix helecopters.

This means I have had to look after children (he has been doing the lions share for the last couple of years, while I commute)

Hence the feminist wine.
