Agenda, much?

I don't usually wander onto the MN facebook page but I was pretty horrified to find what looks very much like an MRA agenda posted on there.
I'm trying very hard to see what relevance the photo used for their site has regarding the voices of unheard children. Hmm Looks more like how they would like to see their women to me.

I would be very interested to see both TeaJennie's and Smiley's answer to that question, Nyac.

In case either of you had ignored missed it, Nyac asked,

"Doesn't it embarrass you being part of an organisation whose members planned to kidnap Leo Blair...?"

Oh, and for what it's worth, my opinion is that if you do not condemn such actions, you are supporting them.

TeaJennie · 06/03/2012 16:27

Is that the best comeback you can muster, Basil? Oh, and don't bother calling me a "handmaiden" again, the novelty has worn off

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/03/2012 16:42

Are you ignoring Nyac's question, TeaJennie? Because your protestations would ring a lot more true, if you said plainly that you condemned F4J's plan to kidnap a child.

The over-sensitivity is because Nadine O'Connor is jumping up and down about anti-men sentiment and derogatory comments towards F4J. Apparently personal attacks now extend to organisations... Nice to see that F4J respond to questions by having a tantrum and getting posts deleted. Can't think why that would be Hmm

Truckulentagain · 06/03/2012 17:07

The bit that puzzles me is, if there was a real threat to kidnap the Prime Minister's son, why wasn't there any arrests?

I've read a book about a father's problems with the family courts and F4J think they were smeared to stop them protesting against family court judges.

I don't know what to believe.

''SDT-Google PY and see for yourself. She wasn't fit to parent her children. Bob Geldof was and fought the courts for custody. In my eyes she put MH before her own kids plus her daughter with MH. To me this is child abuse in the highest order.''

Was John Lennon an abuser of the highest order?

SmellsLikeTeenStrop · 06/03/2012 17:14

''In addition to F4J being run by a woman (who is an inspiration btw), a third of F4J members are women - mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, daughters, and I am proud to be one of their number.''

Oh hi, did you know that there is this organisation in the US called ladies against women Concerned Women For America, they were formed in the 1980's by women and have consistently fought against the interests of women, one of their current campaigns is to try and repeal the Violence Against Women Act.

Just sayin'.

BasilRathbone · 06/03/2012 17:31

Women carried out foot binding too.

And in general, it's women who perform Female Genital Mutilation.

So men can get handmaidens to do their dirty work for them. And that is supposed to whitewash whatever it is?

ThisIsExtremelyVeryNotGood · 06/03/2012 17:31

S'ok Beer Grin love the hypocrisy that F4J are currently bitching about the fact that their trolling posts keep getting deleted from the Gingerbread FB wall and that they're getting slagged off here, yet slagging Gingerbread and MN AND inciting people to come here simply to be offended and report posts is somehow A-OK in F4J world.

SardineQueen · 06/03/2012 17:38

I find the images of the children and young people (mainly female) with their mouths tapes up intensely disturbing and to me they look like images used in campaigns about child sexual abuse.

I find the fact that people are using an example of a dead woman who they didn't actually know, to make points, in really bad taste. And find the points themselves extremely dubious. Given that no-one on here actually knew her.

I don't understand what F4J aims are. If it is about the family courts there are groups and individuals who have concerns - are they working with them. The site with the disturbing images doesn't say on it anywhere what the actual aims are.

It seems like just a lot of unfocussed anger towards mothers to me. The personal comments made about women on this thread are predictable in their nature and rather dull frankly. It all seems a bit pathetic.

SmellsLikeTeenStrop · 06/03/2012 18:00

''I don't understand what F4J aims are.''

From looking at the fb site, it seems, based on my personal observations that their aim is to troll other organisations that say things they don't like and/or agree with.

Today apparently they were trolling gingerbread, cluttering up the helpline with requests for information, meaning that parents with genuine difficulties may struggle to get through. :golfclap:

BasilRathbone · 06/03/2012 18:02

That's really in the interests of children isn't it?

NarkedPuffin · 06/03/2012 18:07

Shock They Troll Gingerbread????

And they wonder why people don't take them seriously?

I don't think I've ever seen so much misrepresentation in years of campaigning. What happened to facts and truth, does it no longer matter?

So, ask away detractors if you have serious questions about F4J. I will be honest and open, as is the organisation. Few of you appear to know what F4J stands for or why, but you have opinions based upon falsehoods that are quite disturbing, apart from legally libellous in some cases. Anyway... to the Leo Blair story which some here like to smear others with: It's false, Matt has spoken about that numerous times on various blogs and interviews but, yet again, detractors jump on the story and keep repeating as a scare tactic. Suffice to say various stories involving Blairs children were (rightly) stamped on, for some reason Tony and Cherie gave permission for this FALSE story to be printed by their mate at the NoW (the very same now being castigated for her falsehoods). Hmmm, political set up or political set up? Perhaps the bigger question is why the government felt the need to play dirty tricks.

SmellsLikeTeenStrop · 06/03/2012 18:14

Aye.

From their page.

CALL GINGERBREAD TOMORROW - The Gingerbread Single Parent Helpline 0808 802 0925 get calling and ask them to help you because they claim they have the evidence to support the claim that family courts act in the child's best interests but they wont publish that information and your children need it.

SmellsLikeTeenStrop · 06/03/2012 18:17

''I don't think I've ever seen so much misrepresentation in years of campaigning. What happened to facts and truth, does it no longer matter?''

Yeah, I've just been on the F4J fb page too.

spydiii · 06/03/2012 18:19

As for handmaidens... a lovely feminist slur of course. Grow up. The women involved are there as victims of family law and unlike those with a gender based social agenda, F4J help them too. That's why they support us. They are 2nd wives and partners, grandmothers and mothers of sons all of whom have been banned from seeing their children, step children and grandchildren without any good reason. Despite what you might believe, or want to believe, we (I included) fight for the right of these women to see children where there is no reason to ban it. The rabid ranting I see here and elsewhere leads to binary judgements based on false fears that are baseless in reality, and it affects women as much as men. Fathers predominantly lose in private family law, mothers predominantly lose in public family law and we (I) support them both so I'd be careful making this an 'anti-female' rant issue. It clearly isn't but the ignorant have nothing better to do but knock others they don't understand or that they fear.

Ok, smellsliketeenstop... care to try and get the information they claim to possess to back their position? Putting aside any catty slurs, how about either responding to that or asking them why they can't produce it? That would only be defending by the naive with a political agenda where facts mean nothing. Children suffer as a result of what these people do so lets not forget that eh?
