lol - this actually says more about you or at least the computer you are using rather than the site you are visiting. When using the internet a record is kept of the sites visited and the ads are targeted accordingly. When I visited thesaurus.com just now the ads targeted at me where a Scottish Government campaign and Scottish TV.

I got the belly fat one too and it keeps coming up on FB no matter how many times I get rid of it. Some seem to just come up no matter what searches you do or sites you usually visit.

I was DPs little brothers computer so now I'm freaked out. :o

Ah yes, I've done a lot of work on this in a work sense. It's fascinating.
Some people find that automatic targetted advertising helpful and others regard it has a huge infringement of their privacy and you caught the issue exactly right - that many families share a computer if they are rich enough to own one at all and dont' log in and out with different pass words so you might see that last night your husband had been on divorce web sites or your boyfriend on wedding ring sites or pro or anti hunting or whatever because of the ads you see next day.

Those adverts freak me out - you go looking for shelves or shoes or swimsuits or something then you get stalked all around the Internet by them,

I really don't like these adverts either.

I get the belly fat and anti-ageing ones, and I've never investigated diet or anti-ageing products in my life. I reckon they're the ones that get shown automatically to women of a certain age .

I think targeted advertising is equal opportunities in being equally crap for men and women.

Women seem to universally get lose belly fat/keep man, men get penis enhancement ads. Not much to choose between them in awfulness.

i don't think it's the women that want those sites nailak. it's the women that are getting them. totally different ball game. it's the advertisers telling women they need these things, not the women telling the advertisers they need them.
