not in a sort of homologous (if that's the word?) way to misogyny anyway - society just isn't that evolved yet

Two men abused me when I was a child but I'm not "anti-all-men" @user1496933219 so no, hating women is not justifiable.

user, I hope you're getting appropriate help and support for what happened to you. Being scared of/disgusted by/distrusting women because one women hurt you is not the same thing as hating all women just for being women though.

Not offended at all.

Hope the cookies are tasty though.

That's great that you personally don't feel oppressed as a girl. Unfortunately, countless thousands of WAGs are oppressed throughout the world on a daily basis, due to their sex.

Riiight, so you're not interested in fighting for women and girls globally because you don't like what you think some Western feminists focus on. Seems an odd attitude to me.

I see. I think feminism will survive without you to be honest. Lovely use of the word 'whining' by the way.

Not really that weird though Assassinated, just typically neo-liberal identity politics. If it doesn't affect them, it's not happening.

I'm sorry you don't know what a neo-lib is, and I am pretty sure I can guess what your "support" entails.

Anyway, we won't keep you, you've definitely put us all in our place. Enjoy your day.

Xeno didn't say you were a liberal, she said it was a typical neo-liberal viewpoint, which is not the same thing.

I wish that it wouldn't

Yet here you are in FWR putting all us whining feminists in our place! How bizarre.

whining about Western rape culture,

Nice. I'm sure the one in four women who are raped thank you for your concern.

Haven't you got revision to do or something?

Why don't you try some UK stats, rather than some article from the US?

And a rubbish article that you've misunderstood....

0/10 for comprehension

Xenophile · 09/06/2017 13:02

You patently didn't know what neo-liberal meant, and if you're 16 your "work" is bollocks.

Try harder son

It's a hair splitting argument.

1 in 5 women aged 16 - 59 has experienced some form of sexual violence since the age of 16

rapecrisis.org.uk/statistics.php

You calling people who are concerned about rape 'whining' is a perfect illustration of why it happens.

Well, given that to my knowledge the US has no legislation guaranteeing equal pay for work of equal value, I hardly think you're in a position to be quite as sanguine as you seem to be about equal pay. And as for unequal pay being a myth - well, my equal pay claim (and that of 50 or so of my colleagues) is going through the courts at the moment after our employer's own pay audit showed a significant (10%) and systematic discrepancy, but refused to do anything about it. So from where I'm sitting, it doesn't seem very mythical, it seems all too bloody real, specially since I'm a single parent who has to keep the mortgage going and food and clothing paid for, same as my male colleagues.

And that's before we even get started on your frankly fucking offensive and erroneous claims about sexual assault.

Of course women are equal to men in today's society. Unfortunately not everyone else thinks so...

"I'm part of the generation that's really saying they're being discriminated against so I'm kind of on the inside." what do you mean?

You aren't seeing the connection between this thread and a website for "motherhood and parenting tips"?! Oh dear.

Report
Xenophile · 09/06/2017 19:41

It means that that poster believes we're a bunch of old farts, I believe.

And motherhood, parenting and feminism go hand in hand, as you might one day find out. You seem to think that the mummies can't be feminist. Wrong!

There is a simple expedient for getting around the equal pay act btw, it's called a non disclosure contract. Plus, of course, in law, PoC also have equal rights which also doesn't play out in the reality that grown ups live in.
