Seen this appeal from Refuge on their facebook page:

"Have you started to buy your Christmas presents yet? Please help to make sure that every woman and child in our refuges gets at least one present this year by supporting our Christmas gift list appeal: www.johnlewisgiftlist.com/, list number 478985. Gifts start from just £1.50 so please give what you can to help bring some happiness to women and children escaping domestic violence this Christmas. Thank you."

What a great idea.

oh I am so sorry, wrong thread. Blush

We support the local refuge at our rotary club every year. This year we are buying them all supermarket vouchers

Good for John Lewis getting involved, I hope (but doubt) that they donate the profit on the gifts purchase to White Ribbon or Refuge.

Have passed details of the campaign round the local Rotary Clubs and our church

What a lovely idea - I have made two little purchases which may brighten someones Christmas day. Although I didn't have to go to a refuge, I am currently receiving excellent support from Womens Aid so in my eyes it is a way of giving a little something back. Who knows if my circumstances were different that could have been me and my boys : (

Thanks for the link will definitely be donating, does anyone know how you donate second hand stuff to refuges as well?? Do they need that kind of stuff, I have girls clothes loads of toys and puzzles, several books. Would they be grateful for my clothes too? (some never worn Blush).

Have always wanted to give them directly to a refuge if poss rather than a charity shop (this is after I gave a bag of barely used shoes to barnados and the woman opened it and helped herself to the Miss Sixty platforms brazenly in front of me!)

I gave some second hand stuff to our local refuge a few months ago. I just emailed the local branch. Think I got their address from the main website.

I actually found it really sad as what I had was newborn baby up to about six months old and they told me that two particular women would benefit immediately from the donation. And it brought home to me how there are women either pregnant or with teeny babies having to flee their homes. Thank heavens there is somewhere for them to go.
