Was Bristol Palin raped?

darleneoconnor · 20/06/2011 11:16

according to this bristol palin was so drunk when she conceived her son that she doesn't remember having sex.

Sounds like rape to me.

Then she was basically 'forced' to marry her rapist? WTF! Sometimes America sounds more like the middle east!

Quite a few forums are discussing this, with some

disgusting rape myths on this forum

A bit Hmm about Families Need Fathers. As far as I'm aware, DS is better off without his alcoholic, abusive, misognistic father in his life. If the group was Families Need Responsible Parents, I'd agree with it.

Now, HRH, I'm aware you said DSD admitted to lying. I'm not going to say she's lying about lying, as I wasn't there, at the time. The problem I have is that you're using it to justify the view point that Bristol may have lied.

Lied about what, exactly? Bristol has described a scenario which may or may not have been consensual (albeit drunken) sex. She hasn't said "Levi raped me." Those words were put on the page by someone that read the passage. How can Bristol be lying if it was someone else that said it?

Rape victims are already accused of lying in the courts, by families, by the media... I had hoped I'd never read it on the feminist section of Mumsnet. Because, to me, it doesn't sit comfortably.

Is there any evidence that FNF is anti-women?

Are you getting confused with Fathers for justice?

DontCallMePeanut · 25/06/2011 14:18

You accused her of lying about rape Hmm (DSD, that is) On a thread abou a girl who has said something that has been perceived as synonymous with rape.

And please, the name says it all... families need fathers. I'd rather not talk to them, out of fear they'd tell me I was letting DS suffer by not having his father in his life. I've had enough of that the past 2 years. Surely you can't tell me the name means something COMPLETELY different...

Findnofun · 25/06/2011 14:21

Mumsnet isn't just for mums.

Fnf isn't just for fathers.

DontCallMePeanut · 25/06/2011 14:21

From FNF themselves...

"Our immediate priorities are getting courts orders for shared residence, improvements in the time children are allowed to spend with their 'second parent', more effective action taken when one parent defies a court order requiring them to allow their children a relationship with the other parent, and replacing adversarial court hearings over children-matters with child-centred discussion. "

Their priority is making sure the courts improve shared residence. It doesn't say their priorities are safeguarding children...

The main cause of extreme pressure to lie that teenage girls experience is not from abusive mothers. It is from a society that jumps to crucify young women who even hint at circumstances in which they may have been forced to have non consensual sex. This thread demonstrates that nicely.

And that is why it is important that feminists support vulnerable young women who find themselves in these appalling situations. But we can't effectively support them if we don't even believe them.
