To those of you that post in this topic time and time again. Who challenge bigotry, misconceptions and sexism where you see it. To posters like StewieGriffithsMum, Dittany, HerBex, AyeRobot, Himalaya, garlicbutter, seeker and countless others who take the time to post insightful, thought provoking comments that challenge deep seated mysoginistic views. I just wanted to let you know that there are many of us out here who don't post much (due to time restrictions/willingness to learn rather than talk right now etc) who support you and learn more all the time. And pass it on.

You take a lot of shit but I think you are making a difference. You may not be waving placards, jumping in front of horses or 'burning bras' (I know, a myth) but this (the internet) is the new medium for thought exchange and activism and you are making a difference. And the MRA know it too, or they wouldn't send in their trolls in every now and then.

Don't let the bastards get you down.

Sorry if that seems 'crawly bum lick' but I have nothing to gain for giving you support. Just needs to be said sometimes.

Iwill be coming M5, M43 and on the M1 at Derbyshire I think, so if anyone needs to be picked up on the way that's fine.

I get a fuel card as well anyway from work so I don't have t pay for fuel, so you will only have to contribute haribos.

ChristinedePizan · 09/06/2011 15:28

Sounds good sAf :) My DS would be delighted to have a 'friend' in the back with him

Do we have a vague date yet?

Another lurker/ v occasional poster here, agreeing with everyone else about how brilliant this section and its regulars are! It has been so exciting to watch the section grow, and to read the amazing discussions - there is such intelligence and humanity here. Thanks for helping to reignite my feminist fire.

What a lovely thread this is.

I too was Hmm when I saw the litle, thinking it was likely to be someone coming along to tell us what a bunch of hysterical, oversensitive harpies we all are...but what a fantastic surprise to find just the opposite.

PS What's happening in York?

It has been an education and a priviledge to read many of the posters on feminism threads, thanks to you all Smile

I could definitely go for a meet up in York, but I'll need to check when I can make it.

Bristol is also very nice

I'll be changing at Birmingham too :) We should definitely meet on the train!

If the taking-over-a-B&B/renting a big house and splitting the cost thing is going to be prohibitive over the summer, maybe we could plan one meet up for the summer, and do the other in one of the other school holidays. Or is that too difficult to match up with Scotland having different holiday dates etc?

floyjoy · 19/06/2011 18:07

Know this thread has been going for a while but I just wanted to add my voice to those who've found this area really stimulating. I enjoy lurking here and I apppreciate the energy and thought that goes into a lot of the posts here. In particular, the links that are posted are excellent, so helpful, taking me off in more directions. Thanks.
