To those of you that post in this topic time and time again. Who challenge bigotry, misconceptions and sexism where you see it. To posters like StewieGriffithsMum, Dittany, HerBex, AyeRobot, Himalaya, garlicbutter, seeker and countless others who take the time to post insightful, thought provoking comments that challenge deep seated mysoginistic views. I just wanted to let you know that there are many of us out here who don't post much (due to time restrictions/willingness to learn rather than talk right now etc) who support you and learn more all the time. And pass it on.

You take a lot of shit but I think you are making a difference. You may not be waving placards, jumping in front of horses or 'burning bras' (I know, a myth) but this (the internet) is the new medium for thought exchange and activism and you are making a difference. And the MRA know it too, or they wouldn't send in their trolls in every now and then.

Don't let the bastards get you down.

Sorry if that seems 'crawly bum lick' but I have nothing to gain for giving you support. Just needs to be said sometimes.

ImmaculadaConcepcion also on the roll call, of course.

ChristinedePizan · 08/06/2011 10:04

I thought this was going to be another 'bash the feminists' thread for being boring and patronising and any of the other abuse slung at us over the last few days and I'm so glad it's not :)

Well said smugaboo - I agree with you

Yama · 08/06/2011 10:07

I'm a lot more vocal in real life than on here. I get my inspiration to grind on against 'bigotry, misconceptions and sexism' from here though so thank you for that.

I often read out posts to dh. He has become much more of a feminist since this topic was established. He always was a feminist but didn't see just how big a problem there was.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 08/06/2011 10:13

I'm definitely don't feel worthy, Cage - but thanks so much for the namecheck!

PS Absolutely no fishing intended with the above comment!!

camaleon · 08/06/2011 10:26

and yet another one waving... Great post

LRDTheFeministDragon · 08/06/2011 10:27

Yes, thanks everyone, this is a great section.

I particularly agree about thanking the trolls who covert women to vocal feminism in droves - tireless work! Grin

Gosh, no you would be safe from me. I don't have a problem with body hair, I just have a penchant for glitter eyeliner.

VampiresReflection · 08/06/2011 10:32

Waves to all.

I thought that as FIL has been cancelled this year we were going to organise a MN alternative? Did this get allocated to anyone in particular?

LRDTheFeministDragon · 08/06/2011 10:33

Oh - and I think lots of the people on my 'list' have been mentioned but I wanted to mention Penthesileia and Reality too. Smile

suwoo - I'll see your troweled-on slap and I raise you my four-inch unfeminist heels. I'm in for a meet-up if others are.

A meet-up would be ace!

Yes please....

Any of you in the Bristol area...? (As well as JessInAvalon)

I'm moving there soon and would love to get involved in a feminist social network, especially if some of the MN Feminists I've "met" are part of it....

suwoo · 08/06/2011 10:55

If there was a meetup, would it be likely to be in London? I've only met the MNetters that live up north like me.

I would like to venture down to London, would be a fantastic reason to do so. A northern one would be good, we could go quite far up, like say York? for you that are north of the border.
