Thanks, I'm interested in pursuing an MA in gender based rights with regard to child custody following divorce.

SardineQueen · 02/03/2011 20:22

This whole thing has been really depressing. I feel so sorry for the poster on the other thread and the one started afterwards was just crass in the extreme.

I haven't posted on either TBH I don't know what to say on one and there's no point on the other.

NotANaturalGeordie · 02/03/2011 20:23

Sorry, don't mean to hijack - what other thread?

caramelwaffle · 02/03/2011 20:32

Englebert - joeking is dadaz, isn't he?

Shame. He's a bit thick and not really up to the job.

NotANaturalGeordie · 02/03/2011 20:53

Thanks Englebert. That link was to a fairly unpleasant message board wasn't it?

SardineQueen · 02/03/2011 21:04

geordie joeking decided to start his crusade today on a thread where a woman is terribly upset.

It's just appalling behaviour and it makes me realise the truth is that some people really, genuinely, don't care about women being raped. Just couldn't give a monkeys.

notenoughsocks · 02/03/2011 21:04

Thanks for MRA troll link. I had long wondered what MRA stood for and now I know. I can't stop my eyebrows being raised in amazement at what I just read.

How is it that men can do this? I feel terribly sad and afraid for my daughters' future.

Both, I guess. The MRA troll is fairly despicable, pointless behaviour - if he wants to reduce levels of so-called man-hating then surely being reasonable and compassionate would be far more effective. But you know this.

As for rape, I don't know what to say. I don't know how to protect my daughters' from DV or rape/assault and it seriously worries me. I too have been assaulted, both as a victim of DV and by 'friends' and I totally support any action that will reduce/eliminate it.

I look forward to lurking on this board and learning more about empowering myself and my children. Thank you.

SardineQueen · 02/03/2011 21:46

geordie it's nice to have you here, please don't feel shy about posting!

The "how to protect our daughters" question is the biggie really, isn't it. I have 2. The MRA line is that men need lots of protection from evil females who will accuse them of rape at the drop of a hat - even though that is actually very unusual. OTOH females actually being sexually harrassed/sexually assaulted/raped is misery-inducingly common - I mean who knows a woman who hasn't had something happen to her - and yet that's apparently not nearly such a big deal.
