You know the rest. He (I think that's who he was - god I hope I got the right one) was just on R4 saying how woman are better at early parenting than men. It's the whole 'I'm so crap at housework there's no point in me doing it' argument.

And it's bollocks really. As a breastfeeder I am spectacularly crap at soothing my babies other than sticking a boob in their mouth. Dh's lack of breasts has meant he has had to be much more creative in soothing our children.

Twat!

Well, where do I sign up to get my child taught by this pillar of enlightened thinking, I wonder?

Enough to make you weep Biscuit

That rubbish always winds me up. Just like 'if you breastfeed then the dad won't get to bond'. My DH has the most wonderful, deep, special relationship with his daughters and has only fed one of them once with about 1/2oz ebm, and he hated the experience because it felt so false and wrong. He far preferred doing the real father stuff (ie. anything that doesn't involve boobs) and was (and is) bloody brilliant at it.

The only thing women are better than men at wrt early parenting is breastfeeding!

Bumperlicious · 17/01/2011 18:47

Thanks butterfly! Didn't realise I'd posted twice.

Yes, indeed.

I mentioned him on the other thread.

beyondtacky · 17/01/2011 19:04

Oh I nearly threw my radio out the window. Pathetic loser. Compared taking care of babies to being emasculated. While pretending all this was a compliment to woman. DH and I were both unimpressed.

So wait - he says if you breastfeed, dad won't bond, but also that dads also can't take care of babies for shit - get your POVs lined up, twat.

Batteryhuman · 17/01/2011 19:07

I believe it is called strategic incompetence or in Toby Young's case general twattishness

Bumperlicious · 17/01/2011 19:14

He also said most men don't really want to take paternity leave. How fecking insulting! My dh was a pt sahd until I went on maternity leave, & a damn good job he made of it too.

He said men dont want to be at home with a screaming baby. Well woman don't bloody want to either but you take rough with the smooth. He just seems to lack a sense of protectiveness or a desire to care for young children. I find that a right turn off to be honest.

He's jsut bloody selfish basically isn't he.

I feel sorry for his wife.

JessinAvalon · 17/01/2011 20:03

I didn't hear it and am glad that I didn't. I saw him on Newsnight a few months ago when they were talking about feminism. They had some venerable speakers and....Toby Young who of course was bleating the whole time, "but what about men....?"

I also heard James Delingpole on Woman's Hour a few months ago waffling on about how men shouldn't be changing nappies. Why on earth does Radio 4 give these morons airtime?

GrimmaTheNome · 17/01/2011 20:13

If you'd been in my kitchen when he was on you'd have heard me muttering things like 'just because you have bollocks doesn't mean you are required to talk bollocks'

The bit about women being naturally good with babies unlike men got me - no, I wasn't, it took effort and a steep learning curve. DH learned alongside me.

Will read the thread soon, but have just posted about what a twat TY is. Listened to R4 this pm on PM Grin and was shouting 'you twat' at the radio.

StuffingGoldBrass · 17/01/2011 22:40

Oh he's a tiresome cock and always was. Him and Tony Fucking Parsons and that other gumby - why didn't Julie Birchil just eat the lot of them when she had the chance?

FunnysInTheGarden · 17/01/2011 22:43

OK have read the thread, and can't believe that this kind of shit can be spouted on R4 of an eve. And no one seemed to pick him up on it.

Looking after babies can be mindnumbingly boring, so tis very convenient for him to say that men are biologically unsuited to doing it.

Jesus. I would like to take him to task in the flesh, so to speak. Hows about a webchat with TY?

Ormirian · 18/01/2011 12:07

really, well that explains an awful lot!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 18/01/2011 14:04

ROFL at "why didn't Julie Burchill just eat them when she had the chance?"

If she ever gets tired of this world I would really like her to go on a Bella-in-Dirty-Weekend style rampage first and take the whole fetid lot of them with her.

I can't believe that he worked with JB for all those years and still thinks that Women Are Natural Child-Rearers! Wasn't she very proud to be known to the DM as Britain's Worst Mother?

GetOrfMoiLand · 18/01/2011 14:07

lol at 'why didn't Julie Burchill eat them'

Indeed.

He is like Penfold but without the charisma or stunning looks.

StuffingGoldBrass · 18/01/2011 21:21

To clarify: JB wasn't married to Toby Young but she workd with him. She was married to Tony Parsons. And the other woman-patronizing gumby whose name I can't remember even though I all but called him out in a fight once.
