You know the rest. He (I think that's who he was - god I hope I got the right one) was just on R4 saying how woman are better at early parenting than men. It's the whole 'I'm so crap at housework there's no point in me doing it' argument.

And it's bollocks really. As a breastfeeder I am spectacularly crap at soothing my babies other than sticking a boob in their mouth. Dh's lack of breasts has meant he has had to be much more creative in soothing our children.

Twat!

Is that Cosmo Landesman? Just went to wikipedia. I never relaised that Julie Burchill was so much into religion. I think the sanctimonious Tony Parsons is worse than Toby Young.

She has truly shit taste in husbands. Mind you, I do love her candour in slagging them (and herself) off at every opportunity.

I love JB, even though am probably unreasonable for doing so. She is like the rude, greedy, bisexual, cool, feminist older sister I never had.

oh, sorry I can't abide JB. She, for example, is a twat too.

JessinAvalon · 18/01/2011 23:06

Yep, I agree re: JB. She did an article saying that she'd rather have page 3 than the burkha. Because of course, we have to have one or the other!

claig · 18/01/2011 23:27

I agree about JB. I think she is a pseud. She's certainly not politically correct and is not as left wing as many progressives think.

She even used to write for (horror of horrors), the Daily Mail, the bastion against pseuds and progressives.

Don't think it is fair to bring Tony Parsons into this; as far as I know, HE brought up his baby son when Julie Burchill left their marriage. Not a judgement on the wonderful Ms Burchill, just a matter of record.
So I don't really think it is on to bring him into this debate and tar him with same brush.

I think Toby Young speaks for majority of men, anyway, yes a man will look after his baby day-in-day out if he has to, but I'd bet he'd rather be earning the money.
Just because people do not like the truth, does not make the truth less so.

FunnysInTheGarden · 19/01/2011 16:42

marantha are you having a laugh? I too would rather be out earing the money and have someone look after my children, but to say I am biologically unsuited to child rearing would be nonsense just as it is for men.

StuffingGoldBrass · 19/01/2011 17:16

Fair-ish point Marantha, but as a writer Parsons is an utter twat, all whiny-male navel-gazing and thinking feminism's great when it doesn't involve your own partner being equal.

As for Landesman (yes, it was him), he once wrote something rude about me; some years later I met him and ticked him off resoundingly for so doing.
He wussed out completely bwahahaha!
