"as i said i struggle with the all women are oppressed but many dont know it hypothesis

esp the so called intelligentsia who can see the oppressed masses and jsut need them to listen up and rise up

this insidious notion of a clever few with enlightenment, and masses of women in denial is really distatesful"

SM -- Here is what you're suggesting:
(1) feminists are a clever few, an intelligentsia clique

(2) women are not being oppressed, it's just the clever few riling them up about so-called oppression

(3) oppression is something invented by the feminists for some nefarious purpose of their own

yeah yeah, I c&p'd.

scottishmummy · 25/11/2010 23:26

thats a non answer, all hail to C&P skills though

scottishmummy · 25/11/2010 23:27

earwicga · 25/11/2010 23:28

A piece by Cath Elliott about actual antifeminists.

www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/jan/28/women-gender

From Wiki:

'Authors Patai and Koertge argue that by labeling these women "anti-feminists", the intention is to silence them and prevent any debate on the state of feminism. It represents "an enormous extension of women's power, allowing any sort of criticism of either women or feminist ideas to fall under the watchful eye of their ideological guardians."
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antifeminism

Some people the term rather liberally and as a term of abuse rather than when it is warranted. This makes them seem to me like 'cry wolf' people.

earwicga · 25/11/2010 23:30

'there's no harm in making the connection that you probably are one.'

Apart from the fact that it is completely irrational, no harm at all (to anyone who can see through the bullshit).

wukter · 25/11/2010 23:39

Debating specific points isn't anti feminism. Debating the premise of feminism it self is. It's not difficult to get your head around.

'Debating the premise of feminism it self is.'

No, it really isn't. It keeps feminism relevant.

Ha ha! You don't like your actions being reported, but report mine.

Loving the projection.

scottishmummy · 25/11/2010 23:43

i think people have capacity for free thought and reflection.on a number of topics.even so called antifeminism-and perhaps to ponder the willingness to apply the label so freely on mn
