I’m the same but was going even more frequently. I’ve started taking pumpkin seed oil and now only need a wee 3 x instead of 6. Following as I’m not sure whether this indicates a medical issue.

OldBeyondMyYears · 14/10/2025 06:54

Same…I’m 60 now but I’ve always been like this. At least twice but more often 3 or 4 times.

ComfortFoodCafe · 14/10/2025 06:56

Its normal im up usually twice a night im in my 30s

soupyspoon · 14/10/2025 06:57

Magnesium? My habits were like that coming into peri and then magnesium seemed to calm it down a bit

bluebettyy · 14/10/2025 07:01

Have you been checked for diabetes?

YesItsMe44 · 14/10/2025 07:01

Are you not drinking alcohol, no caffeine suggested after 1p, and be aware of caffeine in all foods, chocolate, avoid spicy foods, etc. Look up over active bladder, and Type 2 pre-diabetes symptoms. I totally understand the lack of sleep.

MaryGreenhill · 14/10/2025 07:03

Don't drink anything carbonated , stop all caffeine, have your last drink before 7pm .Make sure you really empty your bladder . Go to the GP they can help . Finally good luck @cleo333

incognitomouse · 14/10/2025 07:03

I've been going anywhere between 3-6 times a night for about 10 years and in mid-40s

Wadadli · 14/10/2025 07:08

Magnesium definitely works. I stopped taking it because I keep forgetting and I’m up 2-3 times a night. In fact I’m going to take one now and will report back in a few days. I confirm that when I take the tablets consistently I don’t wake to pee at all

Timeforabitofpeace · 14/10/2025 07:19

Magnesium is suggested for every thing on here. That seems odd to me.

Aparecium · 14/10/2025 07:24

I’ve been on HRT for 15+ years, and every time multiple night-time pees became a pattern, it was resolved by increasing my HRT.

But first it’s worth looking at lifestyle changes. As well as all the other things PPs have suggested, I would add keeping yourself as well-hydrated as possible (pale pee) during the day, so that you can comfortably stop drinking any liquids 3 hours before bedtime. Even when I am doing this, I always have a little drink of water before bedtime, just 3 or 4 mouthfuls.

Good sleep hygiene also helps. So no food and no tech for a couple of hours before bed, a calm wind-down to bed, and a fairly dark bedroom. Bedroom needs to be cool but not too cold.

I’m currently in a piddling phase, and am doing a bit of lifestyle-tweaking to see whether I can fix it myself before going to the GP.

secureyourbook · 14/10/2025 07:29

I have the same issue, been like it since perimenopause started (I’m on hrt but it hasn’t solved it)

I avoid drinking much after 6pm but again that doesn’t help 🤷🏼‍♀️

What dose do you take?

PurpleFrogg · 14/10/2025 07:32

I am similar but I wish it was only 3 times! I am up at least 6 times per night and have always been like this. Not to be graphic but I have no idea how my body keeps producing so much wee if I’m not drinking overnight!

Yes same, it's highly annoying but I've always needed a pee at least once in the night. Makes no difference how much I drink in the evening, whether I've had alcohol etc. Also worse before my period starts. I already take magnesium but I have increased my pumpkin seed intake as an experiment.

Sassylovesbooks · 14/10/2025 07:35

The only time, I have to get up for a pee more than once per night, is about a week before my period. It varies on a monthly basis, some months I'm not too bad other months, I can't hold my water at all, even during the day! I'm 50 (nearer 51) and it's clearly down to my hormones. We retain water, and it's down to our hormones, when our body releases the water, it tends to be at night!!

Lennonjingles · 14/10/2025 07:42

I am 64 and vary from not needing to go at all, to being up every hour. I do take magnesium as this can also help me sleep deeper. I definitely need to go a few times if I’ve have a fizzy drink with my dinner. I don’t drink tea/coffee after 3pm. I often do my pelvic floor exercises in the night after I’ve been for a wee, as this reminds me to do it. If you haven’t had bloods done, I would, I have mine done every year as routine.

user1476613140 · 14/10/2025 07:45

Been like this since before having children. In my 40s now....I doubt it will ever get better. Yes, it's exhausting.

xxxwd · 14/10/2025 07:47

I’m in my 30s and been like that for at least 10 years.

drspouse · 14/10/2025 07:49

If you are leaking, you need to see the GP and get a referral to a gynae physio.
However, you may be doing very little wee each time. Buy a plastic measuring jug and see how much it is. Just doing this helped me see that sometimes "needing" to go wasn't really true as it was just a dribble. Knowing that helped me to go back to sleep instead.

jerrywesterby · 14/10/2025 07:49

It could be a symptom of type 2 diabetes

Lottapianos · 14/10/2025 07:53

I'm the same OP - up 3-4 times a night. I've always got up once in the night, but in the past 6 months it's been twice and now it's increased even more .I'm on HRT (oestrogel and utrogestan) and magnesium glycinate

I have a review with the GP next month and I'm going to ask for vaginal oestrogen. Can use it in addition to regular HRT and apparently it's what you need for urinary symptoms. Good luck!

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 14/10/2025 07:54

Vaginal oestrogen. I bet you aren't using that.

You need Estriol cream. Move your thread to the meno board and about 100 women will shout VAGINAL OESTROGEN at you!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/10/2025 07:55

With me the problem was a fibroid. When it was removed it was like magic, I could sleep through the night again.
There are many other causes but this might apply to someone.
(In retrospect I am angry because it should have been so easily identified and solved, if only I had been listened to when it began instead of being fobbed off with guff about how it must be my fault for not doing my pelvic floor exercises properly.)
