Do you keep books in your bathroom?

I recently heard of someone who had a mini library in their downstairs loo!

How many books do you have in your loo?
And what are they?

0!

I don't spend more than 2 minutes in the loo at any time.

There are no magazines in there either.

Actually the loo is probably the only place I don't read.

Meglet · 17/06/2010 20:12

I don't have a library

Just a book to flick through and a Grazia or something.

NorbertDentressangle · 17/06/2010 20:13

None.

Nobody in our family hangs around for a read.

singsinthebath · 17/06/2010 20:14

No more than 2 mins! You must be a fast worker jamais.

DD has started reading in the loo and recently I caught her coming out with the DS (Nintendo DS not little brother)

Purely browsing on the loo books. At the moment, a fab retro photo book called Boring Postcards, full of 1950s /1960s postcards of empty brand new service stations and nuclear power stations and the like, and a book on the Night Sky.

BikeRunSki · 17/06/2010 20:15

We have a bookcase with about 40 paper back novels and various other books in our downstairs loo.

Francagoestohollywood · 17/06/2010 20:18

I have lots of magazines.

marriednotdead · 17/06/2010 20:21

at this thread.
Usually have tv guide, Motoring & Leisure (comes with my car breakdown cover before you ask) and a fabulous book called Passing Time in the Loo.
In my defence, I never had any need for these before dh moved in but like many men, he seems to be a 'parker' and often disappears with the newspaper too

scottishmummy · 17/06/2010 20:25

QSincognitoErgoSum · 17/06/2010 20:26

I dont keep any reading materials in my bathroom, but a friend of mine reads the bible on the loo.

usualsuspect · 17/06/2010 20:27

Couple of old sunday paper mags

MayorNaze · 17/06/2010 20:27

we have the boden catalogue, classic rock magazine and the national trust mag as well.

i am sure that says something deeply profound about our lav

MumInBeds · 17/06/2010 20:29

I have a magazine rack on the door. I know it is illogical but I don't like the idea of books in there as they have a longer 'life' and can't be washed - magazines get binned after a while.

jeee · 17/06/2010 20:32

Old Private Eye/Giles Annuals

overmydeadbody · 17/06/2010 20:33

yes.

My house is tiny, I have to utilise every inch of space.

thecatatemygymsuit · 17/06/2010 20:34

I have a bidet full of magazines, sunday supplements and Boden/Graham & Green/Plumo catalogues in my bathroom.
Assorted books include Harriet by Jilly Cooper and some PG Wodehouse.
I thought everyone read on the loo, and I am quite hung up about bodily functions!

jamaisjedors · 17/06/2010 20:34

at singsinthebath (don't do that either!).

The DS unfortunately seem to copy their daddy and spend ages in there - they can spend 20 minutes singing or playing with toys etc.

Not sure WHAT Dh does in there for that length of time !

CantThinkofFunnyName · 17/06/2010 20:36

Ashamedly yes. We have a "mini library". Although I must point out that it is the downstairs cloakroom with a full bookshelf because it's a funny shape and we don't have room in the sitting room for it. And yes, of course, it was DH's idea.

Bumperlicious · 17/06/2010 20:49

Yes, sometimes it is the only excuse for a 5 minute sit down in peace. I also like to read when I am cleaning my teeth of I won't do it for long enough. We have one of those 'reading in the loo' books, a few others and loads of copies of The Week. Keep meaning to get an actual magazine rack for the bathroom as I am sick of them sliding off the laundry basket.

Butterpie · 17/06/2010 21:02

Lots of the Idler, both volumes of passing time in the loo and maybe 5 or 10 other books. It is the room with the bath in too...

In our defence, there is no room in the house that doesn't have books in, the bathroom has the least books of any room...

PortiaNovmerriment · 17/06/2010 21:08

No- I barely get time to pee, let alone read. But I have been known to MN from my phone in there...

wukter · 17/06/2010 21:22

I'd love to but find it a bit ick.
Love calling over to my friends house. She has a small shelf with a top notch selection. Read most of Bad Science there, and am now dipping through Toddler Taming

PosyPetrovaPauline · 17/06/2010 21:25

i tell my boys off for reading in the loo
it's dirty

maktaitai · 17/06/2010 21:28

I grew up with lots and lots of books in the loo. All my family have terrible piles, however. I once met a doctor who was doing a vascular surgery job at the time (lots of haemorrhoid ops), who said 'sit on the loo for ten seconds - if nothing's happened, get up again'. So I no longer keep books in the loo.
I still have terrible haemorrhoids but hope that ds may escape this affliction
